Selflinks

I fixed all selflinks at Byrial list regarding taxonomoc properties. Exeptions as this are not reasonable. Please adapt your template to the rules of wikidata. --Succu (talk) 09:32, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

I don't think that selflinks are problem. It could be considered as a problem if it was used instead of claim because of deprecated technical reason (once there was no option for adding claims). However when there is a good rational for selflinks, as in the case of taxonomic ranks (using the same set of properties to declare both the above ranks and the specific rank) why not? • I don't think there is a problem with redundancy of taxon rank (P105) and selflink. taxonomic level is a claim about the taxonomic level of this entry (e.g species/genus etc) while self linking the entity with genus says the same but in the context of a taxonomic tree defined by the properties P75 (P75),P76 (P76),P77 (P77)... It is much simple to use only this closed set of properties (p75,p76,p77...) and not combination of other properties. Eran (talk) 21:44, 7 August 2013 (UTC)

In the relative discussion on the talk page I've given a proof of the fact that "instance of racist" comes as a consequence of the definitions of the wiki. What is in wbc_entity_usage?

You are probably more experienced with wbc_entity_usage. If I run the query SELECT * FROM wbc_entity_usage WHERE eu_entity_id = "P2439"; on shwiki and fiwiki, no results are returned despite the existence of fi:Moduuli:Cs:Wikidata/lib and sh:Modul:Official website. Hi, in what sense does Pontifical Biblical Institute (Q951184) belong to Wiki Loves Monuments Israel?[1] Did you perhaps mean some other object? The WLM-IT system assumes that monuments located in Italy can only participate in WLM-IT, not WLM of other countries. This is a reasonable expectation, isn't it? --Nemo 05:13, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

Force an LTR/RTL break?

Eran, I wonder if you can help me with an LTR/RTL transition problem I've encountered recently.

There's a bit in the middle where we tried to list his name in the Hebrew alphabet followed by his date of birth, but the fact that the Hebrew-alphabet name was placed next to numerals and punctuation meant that the software ingested the year and the punctuation into the RTL section. Do you know how I can force a RTL-LTR transition between the Hebrew characters and the Chinese punctuation? Deryck Chan (talk) 17:32, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Deryck Chan: This is quite common problem when mixing RTL and LTR :) Basically there are two solutions: using ‎/‏ marks to control the direction (added it in the article) and having span with unicode-bidi:isolate - the second option is more elegant in my opinion. If you want to consider the 2nd as generic solution, w:yue:Template:Lang-yi (and other RTL langs) can have span with isolate. Eran (talk) 22:12, 5 December 2018 (UTC)

Cycling race

Hi. I see you add a copy of Module:Cycling race on HE Wiki. Can you add translations on this kit ? His function is to permit a person speaking hebrew 1) understanting what is written in Wikidata items about cycling, 2) having good translations in Wikimedia Commons categories for the display of Wikidata Infobox. If you have the time, can you add translations to d:Module:Cycling race directly by editing the code ? It is not very complex. It is just a copy paste of previous lines with the replacement of words. Hi. If you want, it is possible to use in hebrew all the functions, in the idea if you have plans to develop the cycling on your Wikipedia. Jérémy-Günther-Heinz Jähnick: Yes this is awesome module and in my opinion this is "best practice" how module should be used - where there is a "master" version in Wikidata that can be forked to any wiki, and wikis contribute it back so it will always be up to date :)

See examples in he:קבוצת_סקיי (teamroster) and he:טור_דה_פראנס_2018#קבוצות_משתתפות (listofteams). We don't use the infobox for cyclist because we use a different template (he:תבנית:רוכב_אופניים) and also don't use it for race infobox (he:תבנית:מרוץ אופניים). thanks, Eran (talk) 09:41, 8 December 2018 (UTC)

Simon Villeneuve: Good catch, thank you. I rechecked some of the other imports and couldn't find similar issues. To verify there are no more other issues I used a query to find people with height of more than 3 meter

As you can see in the history of Q2333771 my bot didn't add the sitelink to hewiki, but an anonymous user before it. The bot only added Hebrew label. The sitelink and the Hebrew label are correct. תרגומים לוקים בחסר

עברית: שלום, נתקלתי כבר בכמה תרגומים של הבוט שלוקים בחסר, למשל Q78355363 תורגם כ"בעלת גבל" במקום "מקדש בעלת גבל", וQ78355364 תורגם כ"גבל" במקום "מקדש האובליסקים". אלה לא היחידים שנתקלתי בהם, אני לא זוכר כעת את המקרים האחרים. הפעולה של הבוט חשובה ועוזרת מאוד לעורך העברי, אך תרגומים לקויים מהסוג הזה רק מבלבלים ומסבכים את העריכה. מקווה שיימצא לכך פתרון, פעמי-עליון (talk) 18:07, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
