Start/end time of Estonian municipalities[edit]

Hi! Currently the general practise is to use start time (P580) and end time (P582) to indicate when did municipalities and settlements in Estonia existed (or started to exist). The exception are six items that you changed today, e.g. here. I think the latter should be restored on grounds of consistency in this dataset. To my knowledge there is no agreement that P580 and P582 can be used as only qualifiers or that their use as separate statements was otherwise discouraged. Personally I'd prefer P580 and P582 for uses like this as their meaning is more clear-cut, while "inception" and "dissolved" are hard to translate (there aren't equivalent words in all languages that would be used in combination with same types of objects (organizations, buildings etc.) as are English words) and as such the latter produce considerable amount confusion. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:145B:896F:B988:1BA2 11:44, 4 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Based on what I've seen, the consensus is to use inception and dissolved for any kind of legal entity (countries and subdivisions, companies, etc) and for groups, while start and end time are used either as qualifiers or for temporary activities and events. Regardless, the fact that the words are not "translatable" does not mean anything with regards to if they should be used. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 09:27, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Is this consensus documented somewhere? Descriptions for neither properties indicate this. I find some discussion on this, e.g. here and here. Based on that it seems that there is no consensus and both properities are used both ways. Anyway, use of properites in dataset of Estonian municipalities is inconsisten now, and I still think it shouldn't have been changed like this. 2001:7D0:81F7:B580:648D:DF15:910:C67F 17:59, 5 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Without any official records indicate that how Mainland China government adopted "史瓦帝尼", please do not change zh, zh-hans and zh-cn translations, thx. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 14:16, 15 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Joan of Arc's date of birth[edit]

Hello, HapHaxion.

For your information : [2]

Please, be careful in changing a date in this way [3] , especially with sources that do not support this claim.

Judaism inception = 1812 BCE (circa) ???[edit]

What was your source for such a precise date ?

en:Judaism says that: "Some [critical scholars] suggest that strict monotheism developed during the Babylonian Exile, perhaps in reaction to Zoroastrian dualism. In this view, it was only by the Hellenic period that most Jews came to believe that their god was the only god and that the notion of a clearly bounded Jewish nation identical with the Jewish religion formed."

en:Jewish history talks of "the beginning of Judaism in the 6th and 5th centuries BCE".

Even that would be a very different thing from Judaism today. en:Jewish history dates "the formation of rabbinic Judaism", with its emphasis on the oral and the written Torah, to "after the destruction of the Second Temple in 70 CE." en:Rabbinic Judaism goes for an even later date in its lead, averring that it "has been the mainstream form of Judaism since the 6th century CE".

Perhaps worth a re-think? Jheald (talk) 21:28, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

(Statement came up as a question at https://wikitrivia.tomjwatson.com/). Jheald (talk) 21:33, 7 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Changed to rough timeframe of Second Temple Judaism. Year above was traditional per the enwiki page. HapHaxion (talk / contribs) 03:53, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good, thanks. Sensible qualifier. Jheald (talk) 17:08, 8 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
