[edit]

Hello.

Can you create the article en:National Museum of History of Azerbaijan in Telugu just like the Telugu article History Museum of Armenia which you uploaded? I visited these two museums and was pleasantly surprised and enthralled how rich the collections of these internationally almost unknown museums of these overlooked Caucasian countries are.

Can you also create the article en:Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater in Telugu just like the Telugu article Yerevan Opera Theater, the article en:Baku TV Tower in Telugu just like the Telugu article Yerevan TV Tower, and the article en:Baku Zoo just like the Telugu article Yerevan Zoo which you uploaded?

Thank you.

@A2D2: Sure, I'll create. But I need some time. They'll be translated by end of May.--IM3847 (talk) 01:08, 19 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello.
Can you translate and upload en:Azerbaijan State University of Economics, en:Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, en: and en:National Museum of History of Azerbaijan in Telugu Wikipedia?
None of them should be long.
This is my last request for this year and the first half of next year.
Yours sincerely, A2D2 (talk) 12:22, 15 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Source for coordinate location claim

[edit]

@IM3847, Thanks for editing coordinate location properties of villages in AP. I could not find source information for your edits (example. If you are following Coordinate Me 2024, you can see some of the sources that can be used. As comments can not be used to explain a change on Wikidata, can you try to add source for your edits. In case you are not able to identify the source, can you add a note on discussion page explaining your source. Also please note that 5 digits after decimal point is the maximum precision that is feasible for general purpose GPS devices. So you may like to round the value to max of 5 digits after decimal point. --Arjunaraoc (talk) 05:28, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Arjunaraoc Google maps is the easiest way to achieve coordinates and I have been using that. And I'm not aware if we are allowed place Gmaps in references or not. In case of Velegapudi, i have observed that, location coordinates provided previously are not exactly on the neighborhood but to the south of the village. So, I have changed it to the geographical centre of the village. I will check AP State Portal from now.
I'm going through usage of Google references on Wikipedia and found Cite Google Maps template from English Wikipedia, I think we can use google maps as a citation on Wikidata. Please check Property talk:P3749, I have added a reference inline with Google CID discussion at Velagapudi. Please correct me if there any issues --IM3847 (talk) 06:41, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IM3847, Based on my study, even copying coordinates from ODBL licensed OpenStreetMap into Wikidata is not allowed. Commercial map providers like Google have even stricter terms, which prevent large scale scraping or use of their data. As wikipedia is licensed CC-BY-SA and provides source links by default, copying to Wikipedia is a different matter. Hence I am recommending AP State GIS portal as a valid source for the Coordinate Me 2024 contest. Arjunaraoc (talk) 23:57, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Arjunaraoc Sure, that's fair enough, I'll also raise a discussion on Google CID, so people don't spam the Google CID like me. But, I found an issue on GIS portal. If I search something like Velagapudi, it shows the fields nearby. I think it is programmed to show the center of Panchayat area which includes village and agricultural lands. I think manual extraction of coordinates are required from the center of the grama kanta (village built-up area) to avoid this.-- IM3847 (talk) 00:33, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IM3847, Yes. APSGIS is quirky, when the census village location is not on a residential area, in that case search result location is probably more correct. It should be confirmed with satellite/aerial base map and or Google map. I am updating what I learn from my usage at the project page. Please bring up any such issues on the discussion page, so other contributors can respond. Arjunaraoc (talk) 00:36, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Arjunaraoc Yes, but that's a very good source for AP villages, will work on it and let know on the project page, if there are any issues, thanks for the info. -- IM3847 (talk) 00:42, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Arjunaraoc Can you please check and confirm my edit at Thotlapalem. -- IM3847 (talk) 11:53, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@IM3847, Your edit is fine. I prefer to use stated in with value AP State GIS portal, as repetition of coords in a URL is not necessary. Arjunaraoc (talk) 14:59, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
