Please be polite[edit]

This edit summary strikes me as somewhat rude. There's no need to snub someone who's just trying to be friendly (regardless of whether you consider said friendliness "cheap"). I've used the same template here on numerous English Wikipedia administrators, and not one of them has thought xemself above being welcomed. I mean, it's one thing to object to frequent non-consensual Wikilove, but a {{subst:Welcome}} is pretty much standard practice on every Wikimedia project. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 18:34, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know: you harass me because of this. Please, keep out of my user_talk:s, in all Wikimedia projects. Restez en dehors ma discussion en touts projets Wikimedia, s.v.p. I am not willing to communicate with User:PinkAmpersand, but currently I ask him so politely as I can in English and French. Administration, notice the state of conflict between two users, please. If you insist. This will be my last post here, and you may revert it if you like. I'd just like to clarify that I'd completely forgotten about that incident, and that this post was not to harass you, but rather an execution of my duties as a trusted user and a Wikidata administrator, in the interest of resolving conflict and supporting a collaborative, constructive editing environment. There is no "state of conflict" between the two of us, and if you're going to approach the project with a battleground mentality like that, I suggest you go back to the English Wikipedia, where such behavior is much more tolerated. Àdieu. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 20:10, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
My sincere apologies for posting this paranoid speculation. Actually, I experienced several cases of demonstrable harassment in English Wikipedia (which I could document if English Wikipedia users are interested), but an extrapolation to this incident was baseless — I admit my mistake, sorry for all this. Apology accepted. While I still like En-wiki, I've found that once you spend some time on a more low-key project, you realize that some things there are way too dramatic. For instance, I've had to repeatedly resist the urge to threaten to block you, even though, as evidenced by your kind apology, that would've been a very bad idea on my part (not to mention not even close to an appropriate response). But I've spent too much time around AN/I, so that's my gut instinct. I imagine something similar goes for you (or maybe you just frequently edit contested topic areas). A while back, I was briefly blocked on En over a misunderstanding, and the admin who blocked me, in his comment upon self-reverting, noted that if you spend too much time around the nasty parts of Wikipedia, your view gets jaundiced (and also said he'd been paranoid – quelle coincidence). I think that's doubly true where you're editing other projects – I'm constantly surprised that no one tries to start some crusade against me every time I make a controversial decision. Lol I make it sound like PTSD, which it isn't... as I say, I don't dislike En, but the more time I spend here, the more I see how over-the-top we can all be there (myself included, obviously). Anyways, glad we were able to work this out the right way, and happy editing. Make a few more mainspace contribs and I'll throw an autopatrol flag your way. — PinkAmpers&(Je vous invite à me parler) 21:37, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I created this task force so the guidelines which were conceived in the Discussion dont rot in the project Chat archive. If you could help expand and or link transfer to a better place were newcomers can profit from this it would be appreciated. Regards--Saehrimnir (talk) 05:23, 24 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
