@Tfrancart:, my watched example Lichtungen (Q1562038) your bot added Austria (Q40) as place of publication (P291). Item-History Maybe your bot could check if the given place in the ISSN record is a country or not to decide where to add the information (P291 or P495). Furthermore on my example P291 was already set and even Q40 was already set in P495. It would be very cool, if you could improve your bot. --Mfchris84 (talk) 19:51, 12 November 2020 (UTC)

IssnBot made some problematic edits to Yearbook for Ethnomedicine and the Study of Consciousness (Q100881577) (latest diff):

• The original title of Yearbook for Ethnomedicine and the Study of Consciousness (Q100881577) is German, and title (P1476) is already set with the correct values; but IssnBot still adds a duplicate title, with the title language set (erroneously) to multiple languages (Q20923490).
• IssnBot sets the value multiple languages (Q20923490) to language of work or name (P407), even though the specific languages used in the journal are already listed on that property.
• Removing such additions is only a temporary fix, since IssnBot just repeats them on its next run.

Also, is place of publication (P291) definitely the best property to use for the Country field from ISSN Portal? It seems like country of origin (P495) might be less presumptuous.

* Concerning the title (P1476) the bot makes a comparison between the existing title and the title we have in the ISSN Portal (in both cases concatenated with the language value). For this reason the title was considered not to be a duplicate and our version (title + language) was thus added. the "mul" (multiple languages) value in our database corresponds to reality since the journal contains articles in various languages. Please check the bot logic at https://github.com/CIEPS/ISSNBot/wiki/ISSNBot-update-algorithm#title-p1476

* Concerning the issue of the "mul" value (multiple language codes) (multiple languages (Q20923490) to language of work or name (P407)) in the ISSN Portal, we think this value is interesting since it states that various languages can be found in the contents (not necessarily limited to English or German). It is not contradictory with the language values values already stored.

* Apologies for the remaining place of publication (P291) in this record, used to translate the Country field from ISSN Portal. We had erroneously used an earlier version of the bot. In the latest version country of origin (P495) is used in conformity with your remark.

Our bot reflects the contents of the ISSN Portal, according to the concrete situation it may or may not add significant value (apart from the validation of the ISSN or ISSN-L as such). We strive to avoid unnecessary duplication but this is not always easy.

Bad country of origin

Hi @Skim: thanks for your remark. It is a tricky question : both points of view are valid and can coexist. On the one hand the resource was published in a defunct political and cultural space (Austro-Hungarian Empire) and on the other hand it is part of the cultural "heritage" of the current Czech Republic. The ISSN database ontly takes into account the second point of view. Issn data (talk) 11:28, 12 January 2021 (UTC)

May be erroneous

Bot appears to duplicate ISSNs on these two items. They certainly seem similar, but I'm not sure that they are the same items. @Ghuron:,@Simon Villeneuve: Would you know?
