[WMF Board of Trustees - Call for feedback: Community Board seats] Meetings with the Wikidata community[edit]

The Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees is organizing a call for feedback about community selection processes between February 1 and March 14. While the Wikimedia Foundation and the movement have grown about five times in the past ten years, the Board’s structure and processes have remained basically the same. As the Board is designed today, we have a problem of capacity, performance, and lack of representation of the movement’s diversity. Our current processes to select individual volunteer and affiliate seats have some limitations. Direct elections tend to favor candidates from the leading language communities, regardless of how relevant their skills and experience might be in serving as a Board member, or contributing to the ability of the Board to perform its specific responsibilities. It is also a fact that the current processes have favored volunteers from North America and Western Europe. In the upcoming months, we need to renew three community seats and appoint three more community members in the new seats. This call for feedback is to see what processes can we all collaboratively design to promote and choose candidates that represent our movement and are prepared with the experience, skills, and insight to perform as trustees?

In this regard, two rounds of feedback meetings are being hosted to collect feedback from the Wikidata community. Two rounds are being hosted with the same agenda, to accomodate people from various time zones across the globe. We will be discussing ideas proposed by the Board and the community to address the above mentioned problems. Please sign-up according to whatever is most comfortable to you. You are welcome to participate in both as well!

Also, please share this with other volunteers who might be interested in this. Let me know if you have any questions. KCVelaga (WMF), 14:32, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Catalogo MnM decorati onorificenze repubblica[edit]

Ciao!

--Luca.favorido (talk) 07:13, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
- Nuovo catalogo 4245
Ti chiedo perciò di cancellare quello vecchio. - Vecchio catalogo 4236.
Grazie ancora ;-) --Luca.favorido (talk) 18:04, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done. Grazie a te, --Epìdosis 18:09, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Luca.favorido,

Wolfram seems to have used the same source for many of its entries. Consequently, it should be possible to match many of them against [1]. --- Jura 14:25, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jura,
Thanks :-) This is a very interesting information and in my opinion we should really add it to Wikidata (maybe with quickstatement batches), because it seems to be the primary source. --Luca.favorido (talk) 19:47, 16 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Daniele Dolfin[edit]

Quali saranno i prossimi passi? Devo autocandidarmi o accettare la proposta in qualche modo?
Ti ringrazio --Luca.favorido (talk) 14:00, 28 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

author[edit]

Hi, not sure where else to write, so I'll try you. Seems an editor named Daask thought the Q482980 should be used differently, and changed it despite the use as an occupation in thousands upon thousands of entries. TherasTaneel (talk) 23:05, 7 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks @TherasTaneel.
You're right, it could be a mess... I've added a discussion in author (Q482980) to better understand the facts, and explain that it could be very difficult to fix thousands of items.
Thanks for reporting. :-) Luca.favorido (talk) 06:39, 8 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

duplicated television season items[edit]

Hi Luca, please check before creating new season item, whether they already exist. You have created many duplicate items. Also, please check Wikidata:WikiProject_Movies/Properties#Season how a season item should look like. There shouldn't be is a list of (P360) and instance of (P31) should not use Wikimedia list article (Q13406463). Thanks CENNOXX (talk) 12:55, 13 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Dear @CennoxX,
You're totally right, I should have read the specific Wikiproject. I took example from other existing elements that were Wikimedia list article (Q13406463), but I was wrong.
I saw you already corrected many the elements using Quick Statements. I fixed the remaining using SPARQL and Quick Statements.
Could it be an idea to add a constraint on property instance of (P31) and is a list of (P360)? I saw it's a common way of avoiding mistakes.
For the duplicates, I used Open Refine for searching which elements were duplicated using the reconciliation feature, but probably something wasn't correctly reconciled.
I will try to check using queries if I spot some duplicates and I will merge them in case.
Thanks a lot for informing me. :-) Luca.favorido (talk) 06:30, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a good idea to merge the items, because there are already descriptions in many languages stating the items are wikimedia lists. So this would cause many work for cleaning the descriptions of the items. Therefore I created a deletion request: Wikidata:Requests_for_deletions#Duplicate_items_with_wrong_descriptions. CENNOXX (talk) 08:18, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@CennoxX you're right.
In fact before merging some elements I reverted the bot-generated descriptions.
So, if I can help fixing or checking the duplicated I've done, I'm glad to contribute.
Thanks. Luca.favorido (talk) 12:21, 14 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Unioni[edit]

Versouni (talk) 15:09, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ciao @Versouni,
ho unito le due voci. Grazie dela segnalazione! --Luca.favorido (talk) 15:56, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Francesca Fanelli[edit]

Hi Luca, F Fanelli (Q116873279) and F Fanelli (Q55208926) seems to be the same person but I'm not totally sure. Can you check? --Kolja21 (talk) 18:49, 24 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Kolja21, you're totally right, I do think they match. I merge them, thanks! Luca.favorido (talk) 18:59, 25 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Italian verb forms[edit]

Hello! Thanks for adding Italian verb lexemes! You might wish to consider omitting from those lexemes the forms consisting of 'avere' or 'essere' followed by a participle, as these could be easily formed by using the appropriate forms from avere (L5138) or essere (L5139) and the participial forms of the verb in question. French, Spanish, and Portuguese verb lexemes are already modeled this way (with respect to avoir/être, haber/estar, haver/estar), so it would make sense to do the same with Italian here. Mahir256 (talk) 01:53, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Mahir256!
Thanks for pointing this out. The problem is that some tenses of verbs cannot stand alone without the auxiliary verb.
Like for example, in Italian, present perfect (Q1240211) is composed by the auxiliary verb in present indicative (Q56682909) + past participle in English (Q1230649). And I think that in French, Spanish it is the same.
Therefore, would you suggest to skip all the forms of those tenses? And not model them?
Thanks a lot! :-) Luca.favorido (talk) 02:11, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Luca.favorido: Yes, I would still suggest skipping them for brevity's sake. That only a participial form is present on a verb need not mean that it is able to stand alone, and grammatical rules manifesting as periphrastic constructions are best left as rules, especially when there are situations in which the parts of those constructions are separated (e.g. when other words can come between 'avere' and a participial form). Mahir256 (talk) 02:15, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That's clear, thanks! So, I'll fix the verbs I created removing the forms with particular composed tenses. Luca.favorido (talk) 02:24, 20 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ma nessuno ti ha detto nulla? Traguardo storico sul tuo edit.[edit]

Gioachino Venturi[edit]

Jaqen (talk) 15:05, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Grammatical features on Italian Lexemes[edit]

Ciao,

I just corrected the grammatical features on a few Italian Lexemes (like nostro (L8209)) decomposing features like masculine singular (Q47088290) into masculine (Q499327) and singular (Q110786).

I noticed there is a lot more (see https://w.wiki/9LuL for masculine singular (Q47088290) alone). Could you take a look? (and maybe use this opportunity to do some other improvements on these Lexemes ;) ).

Grazie, VIGNERON (talk) 12:40, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Bonjour @VIGNERON,
Luca.favorido (talk) 05:37, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
