Strain[edit]

In Sinorhizobium fredii NGR234 (Q23309229) the bot used the wrong value Strain (Q2353244) (disambiguation page). The correct one is strain (Q855769). --Succu (talk) 09:32, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Succu Thanks for fixing that. Will make sure it doesn't happen again. MicrobeBot (talk) 15:31, 23 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"Subclass of" (P279) must not be used as qualifier[edit]

Hi, Wikidata:Database reports/Constraint violations/P279 increased quite a bit lately due to your recent addition of subclass of (P279) as qualifier on property found in taxon (P703) for a large number of new items. "Subclass of" bears a "Value only" constraint that forbids such use, see Property talk:P279. Can you please fix these 516 faulty items? Thanks -- LaddΩ chat ;) 12:44, 4 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LaddΩ. This is a result of a mistake I made using Quickstatements. Top of my list to fix. I will have done by end of day. MicrobeBot (talk) 16:23, 6 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Looks great! The report should update tonight (June 7th), then. Cheers -- LaddΩ chat ;) 17:41, 7 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Alias[edit]

Something seems to have gone wrong last year: [1]. Would you check and fix them?
--- Jura 11:04, 1 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jura1: Thanks for the note. Apologies for the slow reply -- we are in the process of transitioning responsibilities so your post fell through the cracks. Doing a little investigating here, it appears that this issue affects most/all of the genes relating to Leptospira interrogans serovar Lai str. 56601 (Q21065229) (see for example the genes linked from here). It does not seem to affect most of the genes for the other microbial species loaded in that same run (e.g., Aquifex aeolicus VF5 (Q21365305), Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. mycoides SC str. PG1 (Q21102989), Shigella dysenteriae Sd197 (Q21102940)). After consulting our bot team, it seems like we've identified the likely culprit here, and it is indeed an edge case on our bot code. Next week, we will do two things. First, we will fix the bot code to handle these edge cases. And second, we will write another bot to remove all single-character aliases from any gene item that the bot touches. Thanks again for helping us identify this problem... Best, Andrew Su (talk) 23:26, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jura1:@Dan Koehl: We have updated our bot to remove all single character aliases from microbial genes. For instance, see [2]. If anything else is incorrect, do let us know! Thanks. djow (talk) 16:10, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Upon request at Administrators' noticeboard this Bot has been blocked temporarily for 6 hours so the work by this Bot can be examined and analyzed, and if needed have a permanent block, if the mentioned operator cannot be reached. Dan Koehl (talk) 08:04, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what was meaning of 6 hours block because the bot had not edited for 2 days before the block. Stryn (talk) 14:03, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
A permanent block was requested by @Jura1:. Lots of latest edits seem only to have removed data from files, which I considered a reason for a block. But I thought its better to give some hours to let the Bot-operator have a chance to answer, before a more permanent block. Email has been sent to the operator. By all means @Stryn:, please change the time into something more relevant, if you think 6 hours was wrong in this case. Dan Koehl (talk) 15:49, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Dan Koehl: in addition to my previous reply, just wanted to note that the bot was working as intended with the recent deletions shown in https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/MicrobeBot. That is incorrect data that is being removed. I'm not sure at the moment whether that was due to bot error or an error/change in the data source, but can provide more details later if anyone is interested. But we've confirmed that the current state *after* those deletions is correct. Please let me know if you need more information. Best, Andrew Su (talk) 23:38, 21 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot for a lenghtly explanation, and good to hear, thanks again @Andrew Su:! Dan Koehl (talk) 16:24, 27 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

protein label problem[edit]

Hello, what do you say about the duplicated labels you created, e.g. Q24248974 having the label "lmo0063 lmo0063"? Will you fix them? --SCIdude (talk) 15:15, 27 July 2019 (UTC) For more information see User:SCIdude/Protein_bugs#Duped_labels. --SCIdude (talk) 08:19, 28 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bot watchlist size[edit]

Regarding MicrobeBot: Hey there. Looks like your bot's watchlist has grown to a very large size, and our website's database administrators are interested in wiping the watchlist to save space. 1) Do they have your permission to do this? You can post a quick statement of permission in this Phabricator thread, or ping me and I'll tell them. 2) If your bot doesn't need to use its watchlist, can you look into making your bot not watchlist pages? This may involve logging into your bot's account, going to preferences, going to the watchlist sub-tab, and unticking a setting such as "Add pages I create and files I upload to my watchlist".
