November 2023[edit]

Hello, I'm Madamebiblio. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent description edits didn't meet the Wikidata description guidelines. Descriptions should appear as though they were in the middle of a sentence, typically start with a lowercase letter, and written from a neutral point of view. For example, "pop singer" would be a better description than "He is the best pop singer." If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks!  Madamebiblio (talk) 14:37, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Czy znasz język polski? Czy wiesz jakie są standardy uznawania nazw geograficznych i oficjalnych w języku polskim? Jak nie to ich nie zmieniaj. Malarz pl (talk) 09:42, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Malarz pl: The OFFICIAL name is Brunei Darussalam. That is how it describes itself on all government websites,[1] its defence ministry, in all publicity materials (business, tourism, legal, political, etc). It it how it is also listed in the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Nations, ASEAN, and many more official independent sources.
To list it simply as 'Brunei' is exactly like listing the UK as just 'United' - which is meaningless. 'Brunei Darussalam' is exactly the same as 'United Kingdom'
Its full extended title is Negara Brunei Darussalam, which again is freely available on their own website - and this is equivalent to 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'.
And with respect, Brunei Darussalam is its official name in English, and those two words are what should be translated in other languages - including Polski. Kind regards. Militum professio scriniarii (talk) 16:39, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
