Italy

Please, can you stop adding "Italy" as "country of citizenship" for people who died before 1946? The Republic of Italy was founded after World War II. From 1861 to 1946 you have to add "Kingdom of Italy" and before 1861 you have to check in which pre-unification country the subject lived. Every time I undo your edits, your bot keeps adding the wrong item. Please, refine your bot or just stop using it for Italian subjects. --Alienautic (talk) 16:21, 1 September 2022 (UTC)

You did it again. Why don't you answer me? Again, please refine the bot or stop.--Alienautic (talk) 09:28, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
I have several dozens of bots running 24/7 unattended on multiple projects. Unlike my bots, I am not that active and I generally reply when I see a message.
Several bots are adding country of citizenship (P27) to items that don't have that statement yet. If you care about what incarnation Italy should be added exactly than you should improve the statement and not remove it. That's counter productive. Multichill (talk) 15:55, 2 September 2022 (UTC)

Clarification about removal of deprecated one-of constraints

Hi, let me clarify the reasons of [1] and similar edits.

For some time I am checking Wikidata:Database_reports/Constraint_violations/Summary and other database reports to find constraints that trigger too many violations. The reason is obvious: when there are too many violations, nobody is able to even open the constraint report.

If you sort the summary report by "one of" column, you'll see that there are hundreds of millions violations! But all of these violations are not real. They are treated as violations, just because KrBot2 does not support deprecated constraints.

That's it? No, I don't agree that exactly for this case it is a problem of KrBot2. In my opinion people are just misusing deprecated property constraint (P2302)one-of constraint (Q21510859) to store arbitrary blobs. If I understand correctly, these statements exist only because somewhere in the air there is an idea that it is possible to improve the autocomplete system so that options from this list are suggested first. If this is true, then supporters of this idea should not fill data not in the property constraint (P2302) (trying to enumerate the infinite evergrowing list). They should suggest a new property "The most commonly used items" (and maybe "Often used in conjunction with the properties"). And then it will be fine that top20 of the most popular materials are actually less than 50% of existing materials, and the same thing for occupation (P106), instance of (P31), etc. Lockal (talk) 04:01, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

You should probably bring that up somewhere and gather consensus before removing statements from a lot of properties. Multichill (talk) 21:06, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Cornelius Baron de Perponcher Sedlnitsky Heer van Ellewoutsdijk Watervliet Everdingen Coudorpe en Driewegen (Q76244467)

Hello Multichill Hope you agree that the commons wiki of Cornelius Baron de Perponcher Sedlnitsky Heer van Ellewoutsdijk Watervliet Everdingen Coudorpe en Driewegen (Q76244467) is of a different person and is incorrect on wikidata. Boss-well63 (talk) 13:47, 17 September 2022 (UTC)

@Boss-well63: I've never seen Cornelius de Perponcher Sedlnitsky (Q76244467) before and I have no opinion on this. If you think something is wrong, you should get it fixed. Multichill (talk) 15:29, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
@Multichill: Their dates of birth and death are different as you can read. Boss-well63 (talk) 23:24, 17 September 2022 (UTC)
@Boss-well63: another good reason you should split up the item. What do you expect from me? Multichill (talk) 16:15, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
@Multichill: Wikidata is connected to the Q-nr and Commons isnt. So the best thing you could do is make a new wikidata number for your commons person. Boss-well63 (talk) 22:04, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
@Boss-well63: why do you expect me to do this for you? Why do you just do it yourself? Multichill (talk) 20:17, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

John Thornton wrongly matched

Hi, your bot is wrongly matching John Thornton (born 1641) to an entry in RKDArtists for a different John Thornton (born in 1946) and inserting a claim that he was born in Sydney, Australia. I reverted the claim, but it was just added again. Cheers Timsherratt (talk) 12:40, 29 September 2022 (UTC)

I removed a bit more from John Thornton (Q19043287): English cartographer and hydrographer (1641 - 1708) and created John Thornton (Q114342113): Australian photographer (1946-2016) to prevent people doing edits like this one by User:Hannolans. Multichill (talk) 22:36, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
