Bot blocked[edit]

I have blocked the bot as it did not have a flag. Please file a request at Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot and explain what the task is. Thank you.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:32, 16 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ymblanter, many apologies for running a bot without the necessary bot flag. I requested and received a bot flag for the Commons version of SmartifyBot but neglected to do so for Wikidata. I'm working in collaboration with the Yale Center for British Art who have asked me to upload all their public domain artworks to Wikidata and Commons. As you may have seen I've already had uploaded about 6,000 artworks before the missing bot flag was noticed, but there are another 40,000 or so to go. Anyway, I've now made a formal request.
As an aside, can I ask if you have any experience with pywikibot and its 'put_throttle' parameter. This imposes a delay between successive writes to Wikidata and the default is 10 seconds! Adding a single artwork takes 6 minutes using that value. Do you know if there is a recommended smaller value, or can you set it to 0? Thanks for your help. Thanks. No, unfortunately I do not have this experience, the easiest is to ask at Wikidata:Project chat.--Ymblanter (talk) 17:11, 18 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
