P345

Why are you editing all the formatter URL (P1630) claims on IMDb ID (P345)? They were fine and are still fine. Mbch331 (talk) 20:25, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

If you check the Wikidata property examples, then you can see, that they don't work.

P345 is a special case. That isn't handled the normal way. There are special rules in MediaWiki:Gadget-AuthorityControl.js for this property. Mbch331 (talk) 20:46, 24 March 2016 (UTC)

But if it must be handled in a special way, then what's the purpose of format as a regular expression (P1793)? Why do we need a script? Why doesn't „plain” regex work?

The regex has been added in the hope that the gadget could pick it up, but that doesn't work. But it might be useful for the future. Maybe the code can be changed one day so it automatically can form the URL based on formatter URL (P1630) + format as a regular expression (P1793) + the value of the property.
