Thanks for your work on the Master of Messkirch (Q568760)

Thanks for working on these paintings in Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Creator/Master of Messkirch and the ones in the Würth Collection (Q212594) (see Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/Würth Collection). The tool creator of Listeria (the template for the lists) has said on Twitter that he switched to cached versions of line items. So if you make a lot of changes, you may need to wait a while to see the updated list with the manual edit button. I just tried it by switching out a few display properties and in lower parts of the list I saw the cached line items with the old properties. To force an update to a line item, just change a property in one of the displayed columns. There are plenty of edits to be made for owned by (P127) or ones without anything yet for main subject (P921). You can't remove the file history - Wikidata is a wikimedia project just like Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons (by design). Hope it helps! Jane023 (talk) 14:20, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for your help. I didn't have main subject (P921) on my radar so far. Concentrating more on depicts (P180). But main subject (P921) gives a more concise general description of a painting, especially the religious ones. On the Items I have created, I already tried to get owned by (P127) covered quite well, as well as the locations the painting has seen. exhibition history (P608) is a field I would also put a better eye on.

Do you have an idea how the display of Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection could be expandesd so all the collections, also the ones further down the alphabet are shown? Or how can I find out if Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/A certain Collection already exists? --Wuselig (talk) 19:07, 5 November 2021 (UTC)

Danke! Jetzt räumen wir (hauptsächlich ich) noch etwas bei der Kategorisierung auf und dann wird die Sache rund. Ich gestehe, ich konnte mich noch nie mit der Kleinschreibung bei der Bezeichnung von Heiligen anfreunden. Als Adjektiv mache ich die bezeichnende Instanz ja wirklich heilig. Bei der Großschreibung ist es nur ein Namensbestandteil und wie bei den Adelstiteln, die ja auch 1918 ihre Funktion verloren und nur Namensbestandteil wurden sind sie halt nur noch für die wirklich Gläubigen relevant. Bei Kleinschreibung müssen auch Atheisten daran glauben. Aber bei den Namen hier, mit Artikel geht es ja nicht um the "holy XYZ", sondern um "The Saint XYZ", oder the "The Saints XYZ and ABC", in Titeln übrigens auch auf Englisch kapitalisiert. Aber ich werde deshalb keinen edit-war vom Zaun brechen. Wuselig (talk) 12:10, 1 December 2021 (UTC)

@Multichill: How did you collect the database for Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Collection/LWL-Museum für Kunst und Kultur? I assume you did not look it up item for item here. I think I imported the collection because it showed up in RKDimages and it uses Adlib (which is easy to import). Would be nice if they could release the (public domain) images, uploading those from Adlib is also easy. Multichill (talk) 23:36, 11 March 2023 (UTC)

What do you mean with "release" the (public domain) images? Just put up a declaration of a CC-BY license, or some physical transfer to RKDimages? Or a mass-upload with Open-refine? Wuselig (talk) 10:38, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

Just the declaration. Preferably Creative Commons CC0 License (Q6938433), but Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (Q20007257) is fine too.

For the actual uploading I used the workflow described at Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Automated image uploads. That's barely any effort. Multichill (talk) 14:37, 12 March 2023 (UTC)

Ausstellungen vs. Ausstellung vs. Ausstellungskatalog

Wir hatten in Potsdam kurz die Diskussion, wo du meintest, man könne das in einem machen, und ich sagte, ich habe es nicht so gemacht. Anhand einer anderen Ausstellung kann ich sagen, daß man es aufteilen muß, wenn man es richtig macht. Wie manches auf WD ist es aber nicht offensichtlich, sondern man muß durch die Hintertür und dann zwischen den Hosenträgern hindurch direkt ins Auge...

In einem Item über ein Bild trägt man als Aussage "Ausstellungen" den Namen einer Ausstellung ein, die natürlich zuvor angelegt sein muß. Das Item zur Ausstellung hat die Property "ist eine" mit der Aussage "Ausstellung". Will man aus dem Katalog zitieren, braucht es für die Verwendung als Qualifikator "wird beschrieben in" für den Katalog ein eigenes Item. Nicht am Anfang, wenn das angelegte Item so unspezifisch ist, daß WD noch nicht weiß, um was es sich handelt, aber später dann gibt es ? oder ! en masse.

Nebenbei: Ausstellung und Ausstellungskatalog sind nicht zwingend identisch. In meinem heutigen Fall bekam der Katalog von der DNB einen Doppelpunkt verpaßt, wo eigentlich nur ein Punkt hingehört, und so schreibt sich die Ausstellung. Oder auch nicht. Das typische Problem mit einem Titel, der aus Haupttitel und Nebentitel besteht und sowohl auf dem Plakat als auch im Katalog ohne Satzzeichen geschrieben wird, denn ein Zeilenumbruch ist ja völlig ausreichend, um das eine von dem anderen zu trennen, Satzzeichen sind überbewertet. ;-) Grüße Matthiasb (talk) 20:50, 31 August 2023 (UTC)

Ein Argument für meine in einem Version ist, wie zB bei unserem GLAM Wolken und Licht, dass sie dann nicht beide zusammen beim Artikel sind. Ich habe regelmäßig, dass nur eines angelegt wurde bzw Kat und Ausstellung nicht aufeinander Bezug nehmen, das ist nervig zB Jahrhundertausstellung deutscher Kunst 1906 (Q46202237)--Oursana (talk) 04:16, 5 February 2024 (UTC)

Ich habe mal versucht diesen Bezug herzustellen. Warte jetzt mal ab, was mit dem Bezug zur Commons Category passiert. Dass da der primäre Bezug zum Katalog (und nicht zur Ausstellung) besteht - ich fürchte beides wird nicht gehen, aber da die meisten Bilder auf Commons ja dem Katalog entnommen sind, ist das ja auch stimmig. Bei Wolfgang Heimbach. A german baroque painter at european courts (Q114683977) müsste ich eigentlich noch einen Item für den Katalog anlegen, da er sich auf zwei Ausstellungen in Münster und Oldenburg bezieht. Die ausgestellten Bilder waren nicht zu 100% deckungsgleich, im Katalog sind alle aufgeführt. Ich habe nur die Ausstellung in Münster komplett durchfotografiert und anhand dessen die Ausstellungs Commons Kategorie angelegt. Du siehst, wenn ich faul bin lege ich auch keine zwei Items an, aber wenn man die einzelnen Bild-items sauber referenzieren wollte, wäre auch bei Heimbach ein Katalog-Item hilfreich, auf dem man dann auf Katalognummer und Katalogseite referenzieren könnte.
