8-bits.info ID[edit]

Motivation[edit]
8-bits (Q83000021) is a Japanese-language database of 2146 video game (Q7889) published on MSX (Q853547), MSX 2 (Q11232203), NEC PC-8800 series (Q1338888) and Sharp X68000 (Q1758277) (I discovered it via this vgmrips resource). Couple of usage on English and Japanese Wikipedia. The data model is per-platform-realization, hence potentially more than one value for one of our Q7889 items.
The ID system is a bit annoying, as the path is prefixed with the platform. So it’d be either a composed ID like MSX2:wgFdv8HHrzDBSENB
and PC88:YMSkYrbV2BbDeAku
(then relying on toolforge:wikidata-externalid-url), or the full URL… Went for URL, but happy to hear otherwise :) Jean-Fred (talk) 20:33, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

Discussion[edit]
- Is there some way the label could be changed to make it clearer that it's referring to a database named "8-bits"? (This is as opposed to an identifier which is 8 bits long...) I'm concerned that the name might be confusing for some. --Yair rand (talk) 19:23, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
- Good point, renamed it to 8-bits.info :-) Jean-Fred (talk) 20:17, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
