Motivation[edit]
This growing database of Cornish–English terms standardised by Akademi Kernewek's Place Names (Q115349858) will provide access to valuable data on Cornish-language translations for English-language place-names and their agreed spelling. I hope this will help improve the quantity and quality of the Cornish-language labels in Wikidata. Many other languages would also benefit, as they also use the Cornish spelling of place-names in Cornwall rather than the modern English language spelling. Discussion[edit]
- Support Akademi Kernewek is recognised by Cornwall Council as the definitive body responsible for corpus planning for the Cornish language. Akademi Kernewek is responsible for setting standards for the language, developing place names and carrying out research. [1] This database is vital in standardising and expanding the use of Cornish language names on wikipedia. Brwynog (talk) 19:03, 17 February 2023 (UTC)

- Support User:jason.nlw. This would be a useful edition for linguists - so long as the identifier/URL is stable and supported long-term. It seems to be a similar database to the TermCymru website here in Wales. An ID property proposal for that was passed some time ago.
- Support User:Ériugena. Great, but perhaps a sound file to accompany the place name would be useful for those like me who never learnt to read in Cornish! For instance I had to download the soundfile form wikiwand for the article on Fowydh (Reference: https://ga.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fowydh)

- In the future, please do not create items such as Q115350056, which are "properties" but represented in item form because they cannot be used as a property. RPI2026F1 (talk) 12:24, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- Any suggestions? Llywelyn2000 (talk) 12:44, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
- I'm afraid that's totally incomprehensible to me. What should we have done? Brwynog (talk) 13:50, 7 March 2023 (UTC)
