I think the regex format is "ISAN "[A-F0-9]{4}\-[A-F0-9]{4}\-[A-F0-9]{4}\-[A-F0-9]{4}\-[AZ]\-[A-F0-9]{4}\-[A-F0-9]{4}\-[AZ] (the letters "ISAN" followed by a space; four groups of four hexadecimal characters, a single alphabetic checkdigit character, two groups of four hexadecimal characters, a single alphabetic checkdigit character; all groups are separated by hyphens). From what I understand from the linked document, they are not needed per se but they form part of the canonical human-readable format noted about (the machine readable format is simply a single string of 24 hex digits with no error checking).
