See also | UNSPSC Code (P2167), OKPO ID (P2391) (the organization ID specified in the same ТУ labels), OKPD code (a newer classification; proposal), OKPD2 code (the newest classification, also used in some ТУ labels; proposal) |
- Motivation
1. The official Russian classification of goods, introduced in 1994. There is a newer and more international OKPD [ОК 034-2007 (КПЕС 2002)], and they are slated to be obsoleted in 2017 by OKPD2 [ОК 034-2014 (КПЕС 2008)], but that had been postponed before. Some groups are more detailed in OKP, and there are conversion tables saying what kind of correspondence each code has to the codes in OKPD2.
2. A shortened code (first four digits) is printed on many goods (most foods unless GOST is used) in the number of ТУ. Rarely, the whole number is printed separately.
3. The hierarchy of goods in OKP can be compared to that in Wikidata.

- Discussion
- The "name of product kind" is inseparable from the code, so it would be redundant to add it, but it can be added maybe with https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Property:P1448 (official name) as a qualifier. --AVRS (talk) 09:23, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
