- Motivation
Having a database of which muscles engage in which actions is valuable for all sorts of professionals. For many muscles it's information that currently frequently doesn't get displayed in Wikipedia infoboxes, so having the data in Wikidata would be quite useful for Wikipedia.
I'm not sure that the current name is the best one. If someone prefers a different name for the property, feel free to suggest it.

- Discussion
I'm not sure this is doable — which action a muscle performs depends on what location the limb is in, and it doesn't strike me as reasonable to simply list every possible action. We need some other solution. CFCF (talk) 09:09, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- I'm also not sure how best to go about this — probably worth looking around a bit as to what ontologies or similar approaches already exist in this area. PS: I changed the definition slightly to conform with grammar. --Daniel Mietchen (talk) 09:59, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- From a converastion with a physiotherapeut I got the sense that a list of every possible action that a muscle can perform is valuable. We could have additional qualifies about the loaction of the limb. ChristianKl (talk) 11:22, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- By using qualifier "of (P642)", we may be able to describe the actions of biceps brachii (Q201363) enough:
- .
- If we will do so, we have to prepare muscle movement (Q25624925) or anatomical terms of motion (Q264251). --Okkn (talk) 11:42, 24 August 2016 (UTC)

- What source already notes this relationship in this way? Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:31, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- How is this? w:en:List_of_muscles_of_the_human_body --Okkn (talk) 15:06, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
- The list Okkn mentioned is a good way to start. http://www.lumen.luc.edu/lumen/meded/grossanatomy/dissector/mml/mmlalpha.htm is another text based list. Apart from that many Anatomy books say that certain muscles engage in certain actions. Most of them however don't do it in a structured way.
- I personally dislike the usage of "of" as it makes it harder to see all muscles that engage in the same action. I would rather have a "flexation of elbow" item that's instance_of flexation with the qualifier "of elbow". ChristianKl (talk) 15:30, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
Support: I don't know if we can pull it off, but I suppose relations with this property are meaningful. --Okkn (talk) 19:00, 26 August 2016 (UTC)
- I think Anatomy and Human Movement Structure and Function 6th edition (Q27050364) provides a good data source. ChristianKl (talk) 12:34, 30 September 2016 (UTC)

@ChristianKl: Support If the intent of this property is to replicate data such as that presented in the tables of en:List of muscles of the human body, then that seems appropriate. This sort of data is already commonly related in this way. It is verifiable in reference works and Wikipedia articles already try to present it. Blue Rasberry (talk) 13:09, 11 October 2016 (UTC)
- Yes, I want to replicate that type of data and in a more sourced fashion than the current Wikipedia data that seems unsourced. ChristianKl (talk) 16:41, 11 October 2016 (UTC)

@ChristianKl, Okkn, Bluerasberry, Tobias1984: Done Now muscle action (P3310). Make good use of it and don't hesitate to improve the given example. --Lymantria (talk) 17:12, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
