patient of
[edit]Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Person
- Motivation
I'm trying to enter information about Franz Anton Mesmer and the patient he treated seem to be important information for which we currently miss a property. It seems to be generally interesting information for famous doctors. ChristianKl (talk) 18:34, 10 August 2016 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Support. Strangely enough, I fell asleep yesterday night thinking about Wikidata properties, and I had this new one in mind. Thierry Caro (talk) 07:34, 12 August 2016 (UTC)
- Question Why not the inverse, instead? We know the names of the (mostly notable) doctors of UK monarchs and US presidents, for instance. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 16:13, 18 August 2016 (UTC)
- I proposed it in that direction because one doctor has more patients than patients have doctors, I however agree that the reverse property would also make sense. ChristianKl (talk) 12:42, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
- Support Note that the description could perhaps be more inclusive. Some people are patients of doctors but not really treated by them, "just" studied. In my mind comes memory patient HM Henry Molaison (Q18627). Should such relation be using the proposed property? — Finn Årup Nielsen (fnielsen) (talk) 08:28, 5 September 2016 (UTC)
- Okay, I added the notion that it's also about studying. ChristianKl (talk) 11:48, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
- How about just calling it "studied by"? Or do we already have a property for that?
--- Jura 12:30, 17 September 2016 (UTC)- We have studied in (P2579), but that's intended for fields of study (e.g. Ancient Egypt (Q11768) → Egyptology (Q145903)). Thryduulf (talk) 16:54, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
- "subject" or "object studied by" for this isn't really convincing me.
