- Motivation
Replacing uses of comment (DEPRECATED) (P2315) for example at Kari Kåring (Q3435127), where it is used to indicate a source or a linked external database contains an error. I can't think of another good way to indicate this (but of course open to suggestions). Lymantria (talk) 08:26, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
- Discussion
- Oppose Not structured data (and thus no guarantee that values in different languages would agree with each other). Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 20:20, 2 July 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose why would we be using erroneous sources in the first place? If something is disputed we have statement disputed by (P1310), if it's misprinted or interpreted then sourcing circumstances (P1480) can be used. If something is out of date then we can set the statement as deprecated (using reason for deprecated rank (P2241) as a qualifier to explain why if needed). If an incorrect statement is commonly but incorrectly attributed to/associated with an item for some other reason then I can perhaps see the value in including it with a note that it is incorrect - I'm not sure if we have a method currently fort hat, but regardless this property is a very poor way of doing that (at least in part for the reason Andy notes above). - Thank you Thryduulf, I was looking for a way of replacing the comment (DEPRECATED) (P2315) uses, your examples help. Regarding your question "why would we be using erroneous sources in the first place?": it often is about linked databases. Lymantria (talk) 05:33, 4 July 2016 (UTC)
