tender
[edit]Originally proposed at Wikidata:Property proposal/Transportation
Description | type of tender used by a class of steam locomotives, or by an individual locomotive |
---|---|
Represents | tender (Q749311) |
Data type | Property |
Domain | tender locomotive (Q20650761) |
Allowed values | type of tender, which is another property (like SNCF 30.R (Q42313727)) |
Example | SNCF 30.R (Q42313727) is a tender of SNCF 141.R (Q948166) |
Planned use | I'm working on an infobox for locomotives using Wikidata and I need to have exhaustive examples. |
- Motivation
Tenders are separated wagons used to feed steam locomotives. Some tenders are used only by one locomotive (on French railways, SNCF 30.R (Q42313727) is the tender only for SNCF 141.R (Q948166)), but sometimes tenders can be attached to several locomotives (SNCF 34 X tenders have been used by DRG Class 44 (Q254698) and then by État 140-101 to 140-370 (Q2807676)) or a type of locomotive can have different tenter depending on time (SNCF 141.P (Q2807715) had 34 P, 36 P or 36 Q tenders).
That would ease the definition of a tender as an element that would be attached to a locomotive.
(That's my first property submission, so be indulgent if I've forgotten something.)

- Why not use has part(s) (P527)? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 09:05, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose To link a specific loco to a specific tender use has part(s) (P527). To link a class of locomotive to a type of tender use has part(s) of the class (P2670). Thryduulf (talk) 09:49, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks Andy and Thryduulf. Seems obvious when said! :) How do I close that proposal? Trizek (talk) 14:44, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
