- Eurodyne (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Dear community,
today I'd like to suggest Eurodyne as an addition to our admin team. Eurodyne, formerly known as a sockmaster and hat collector, has greatly improved during the past couple of months and become an important contributor to this project, also in areas where admin tools could be useful to him, like RFD or PC. That I am creating this (first) application page for adminship is also clearly an indicator that Eurodyne changed, otherwise this page here existed already. It regularly occurs Eurodyne is bugging admins on IRC asking them to perform a little action here, all of his requests I have seen were reasonable enough to say I could trust his judgement if he held the tools himself. As a wiki where adminship has (thankfully) never been much of a big deal, I believe we can give Eurodyne a chance. To those wondering about whether they can trust Eurodyne with admintools, I would suggest to be patient and see if he makes a good job, as otherwise we still have effective measures to remove admins, though I hardly believe this will be needed here.
Thanks for your consideration, Vogone (talk) 17:45, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you Vogone. I humbly accept the nomination. Eurodyne (talk) 17:49, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- Support, per my nomination. Vogone (talk) 17:52, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Support - I believe that we can put all these incidents behind us. Eurodyne is a great individual whom I've had the pleasure of communicating with in the past. I have a large amount of trust in this candidate, and I believe others will feel the same. Good luck, George Edward C – Talk – Contributions 17:59, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Support absolutely. Eurodyne has improved greatly over the last while and could use the admin tools well in my opinion. Ajraddatz (talk) 18:57, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Support per nominator --DangSunM (talk) 19:02, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]- Strong oppose While this nomination is of no fault of his, I still have zero trust in him. His repeated requests for property creator and other rights elsewhere still demonstrate that he still intends on hat collection. I've found that Eurodyne's grave history on enwiki also merits not trusting him with access to things like revisiondelete and Special:Undelete. Perhaps most importantly, he has shown no ability of being able to judge consensus and I don't think he has the maturity to do so. He does not even understand what maturity means, because he constantly messages me on IRC along the lines of "am I acting like an adult?", "will I be mature in a year?". True, adminship is no big deal but this user absolutely does not deserve it.--Jasper Deng (talk) 19:06, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Strong oppose per very strange laudation of Vogone („important contributor to this project“). --Succu (talk) 22:38, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- I consider every productive community member to be important for the project, indeed. Vogone (talk) 22:46, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Do we „have effective measures to remove admins”? --Succu (talk) 22:52, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Sure, inactivity is prevented by our inactivity policy and in case trust in an admin is lost, we have WD:RFP/R which was also made use of once. Vogone (talk) 22:54, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Non of these was „effective“, I think. --Succu (talk) 23:03, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

- Strong oppose per Jasper. "...formerly known as a sockmaster and hat collector, has greatly improved during the past couple of months" a couple months is not long enough at all. Sure, he's a valuable contributor, but I don't even know what Eurodyne would do with adminship here that would be good. And the explanation for what he would do was not good ("use the delete button"? Eh, not good), so it seems that giving a user that was a "sockmaster and hat collector" a couple of months ago adminship is nothing short of crazy. Please don't take it personal Eurodyne, it's just that you're not ready yet. Maybe in a year, but keep in mind maturity for adminship is not acquired in a set time. Sorry. --AmaryllisGardener talk 22:55, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral I hesitate when I see Jasper's comments. I am sorry but I think it is the best for now. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 08:39, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral because I don't want to pile-on, but I feel this is too soon. --Rschen7754 06:54, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose per Succu. You can't expect the community to place trust in someone with such a checkered past. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:04, 23 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]- What administrative tasks do you plan to be most active in? (Feel free to say "all-round" etc.) George Edward C – Talk – Contributions 18:05, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
- I mainly plan to use the "delete" button the most. I've done a ton of RFDs for empty items and plan to delete them myself. I'll occasionally watch Wikidata:Requests for permissions page and grant permissions to other users that have a need for it. I'll help with blocking abusive users and vandals from time to time as well. Eurodyne (talk) 22:33, 19 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
