RfP scheduled to end after 22 February 2024 17:46 (UTC)
- WT20 (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Hi.This is my 2nd apply I'm active on Wikidata.I am applying for sysop permission on Wikidata. I want to do more to help fight vandalism on Wikidata. I request to delete, protect and block by myself admin rights that I identify and need in my daily work here. I already did requests at WD:RFD and WD:AN and I know the policies of this tools.Thank you.WT20 (talk) 17:46, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Votes[edit]
- Support Probably still a bit early, but I do not have real concerns --Ameisenigel (talk) 13:22, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral I think I will have to second the cheerful echidna here, probably a little early still. I think I would give a supporting vote once I feel you're a tad more familiar with how things work on Wikidata. I hear doing patrolling is the fastest way to become an admin, but other experience is certainly relevant. E.g. if you help out creating properties I would vote in favor. Infrastruktur (talk) 16:54, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @InfrastrukturMy patrol 705, Also I have good experience with mediawiki because I am a freelancer mediawiki developer, also I am aware of all wikidata rules. WT20 (talk) 17:06, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose His level of false positive in WD:RfD is too high. I'm actually skeptic this is user make the difference between a new user and a spammer. I like just warn him 5 days ago for this behaviour after he submited 13 taxons in RFD. (User talk:WT20#Taxons). Also his request in Wikidata:Requests for checkuser/Case/Vcldead two weeks ago create a whole mess as he block a study whole group. Far too early. --Fralambert (talk) 13:49, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- The taxons were all empty with no data so I requested to delete them. After that as well I said on his talk page then there was a resolution through a discussion. And to the second check user I request that since their behavior and contribution was the same, it is a misunderstanding caused by the check user. Also, those users do not mention their competition in Wikidata.Although it was a check user opinion I can't say anything about it.All in all I have contributed here based on the situation.Thank you. WT20 (talk) 15:08, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Oppose this user is probably of goodwill but he confuses quality and quantity (which leads to errors as Fralambert clearly demonstrated above). My advise would be to Wait, slow down a bit and make better edits before reapplying again (the last request for adminship was less than 2 months ago, not much has change since and rather on the bad side :/). Cheers, VIGNERON (talk) 16:12, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Neutral For now, per my comment below. I haven't really seen the context behind the "canvassing", I'm usually not really a fan of that, but, it's not the biggest reason for my vote. - Oppose too many concerns per above, and the canvassing is the nail in the coffin. Queen of Hearts (talk) 19:35, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral, I'm not sure about this one. There are concerns, but I believe this editor is trying to behave in good faith. I think WT20 should Wait, demonstrate improved conduct, and then re-file. —Tomodachi94 (talk) 19:52, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Neutral – I believe that WT20 wants to contribute to the project in good faith, and am not too concerned about the lack of crosswiki activity that EPIC mentions. I feel, though, that they should slow down a bit and focus on quality rather than quantity. I picked a RFD archive at random and landed on February 12; in addition to the taxons mentioned by Fralambert, there were two other items (I Am Morbid (Q124423652) and Bernard Binetruy (Q124423505)) tagged as lacking notability that were kept as notable. I think they should focus in obtaining other rights, such as rollback, first. –FlyingAce✈hello 22:29, 18 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- I won't vote just yet, because I don't know what to vote, but I will list some good/less good stuff.
- Plus for being active, frequent reports on RfD (it gives me more work to do, so I'm thankful for that) and overall good work.
- Minus for sometimes a bit too quick on RfD or sometimes reporting too many items at once. It clogs up our backlog, which is already really large (we have went from 40 to 150+ reports in just a month). Therefore, sometimes consider making bulk deletion requests. And, like last time, it would be good to see some activity outside of Wikidata. That in itself is of course by itself not a reason to oppose, but considering that Wikidata is a database for all of Wikimedia wikis, a little more than one SUL edit outside of Wikidata would be good.
- I don't know how to weigh in on this though and will wait a bit. EPIC (talk) 17:02, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Madamebiblio[edit]
RfP scheduled to end after 3 March 2024 04:25 (UTC)
- Madamebiblio (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Hola comunidad, I am Madamebiblio, I have been a Wikimedian since 2017: an active Wikinomo, rollbacker and patroller on Wikipedia in Spanish. Later, I enlarged my contributions to other projects and now Wikidata became my home project. In addition, an engaged member of Wikimedia Argentina, Wikimedia Spain and some WM user groups. Professionally, I come from a GLAM environment: I am an academic-researcher librarian, with wide experience on information resources, authority control and structured data.
In the last time here I was very much involved in anti-vandalism and anti-spam work. I am fighting cross-wiki vandalism, LTA, spam, etc., and frequently reporting on RfD and AN. I contribute along with other maintenance tasks by referencing, merging, adding persistent IDs, and translating templates.
As you know the massive quantity of vandalism from LAC countries and Spain is so impressive. I would like to effectively continue fighting against vandalism in Spanish and give assistance to the Spanish-speaking community to optimize editions on the project.
Already I have rollback permission locally and I have carefully read the Wikidata Administrators policy. Because of that, I would like to offer my help as an administrator. I will focus mostly on counter-vandalism work and maintenance for blocking vandals, protecting items, and deleting nonsense items, in order to act as the project needs.
I am an enthusiastic person with a genuine desire to make positive contributions to this community. Thank you for your consideration. Best regards. Madamebiblio (talk) 04:25, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mike Peel 2[edit]
RfP scheduled to end after 9 March 2024 13:08 (UTC)
- Mike Peel (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
I am re-applying for the admin tools since I was de-admined on 1 March for inactivity. I mostly use the tools to check deleted contributions, as I operate User:Pi bot, which in particular now creates new items here for new Wikipedia articles (after searching for any potential existing items and putting them into a Wikidata Game for human review), and I regularly check cases where the items have been deleted/nominated for deletion to make sure the bot is working OK (often deleting them myself where appropriate, but others have got there first recently!). I do similar work while maintaining the Wikidata Infobox on Commons. Accessing deleted items is not a logged admin action. I also run User:Pi admin bot, which maintains the list of properties for deletion that you see on your watchlist (the template this uses is admin-protected).
I was previously supported 40:0 in 2020. I've been a Wikimedian since 2005, and I've been editing here since 2016. I have over 200k edits here, and over 480k globally. In addition, Pi bot has made over 12 million edits (9m on Wikidata). I currently have admin access on both enwp and Commons. I'm also very involved in Wikimedia governance. Thanks. --Mike Peel (talk) 13:08, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's easy to find such lists, and if I'd have had any notice prior to being de-admin'd I'd have quickly done the 2 logged actions I was short of for the minimum activity requirements, but there was no warning this time. - While I can't speak for Emu, I think (a feeling, though not unjustifiable) you have been considerably more inclusionist than other admins to the point that you effectively warp or outright discard any parts of the notability criteria that would even hint at excluding a particular item. My links to the maintenance lists in my vote are more exhortative and insistent, rather than merely suggestive, to make the deletions presented in those lists. Mahir256 (talk) 23:57, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmm, I don't think I go that far, although I do tend to think that an item shouldn't be deleted if it's in use, e.g., on Commons. One of the reasons I backed away from RfD somewhat, since a wider discussion needs to happen there sometime. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 00:12, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Mahir256 I couldn’t have described my issues with this style of admin actions in a more circumspect way. It’s not that I don’t value Mike’s contributions to Wikidata or indeed the Wikimedia communities at large, I just think that admins should be more careful not to let their individual preferences influence their admin actions. --Emu (talk) 11:33, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Thank you for your trust, User:HakanIST. I am accepting this nomination. I would be happy to assist with administrative operations at Wikidata, which I have enjoyed contributing to for a long time. I had previously resigned at my own request from Turkish Wiki. The reason for this was that I wanted to change duties with new users instead of being a servant for years. - @Zafer: Thanks for your willingness to help the project! In which admin areas do you think you mainly want to contribute and in what ways? --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 22:54, 5 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello @KonstantinaG07:, I plan to start working on WD:RFD backlog, and in general help prevent vandalism by blocking vandals and protecting items with this issue. Zafer (talk) 20:41, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Fair enough, thanks for the response. KonstantinaG07 (talk) 20:46, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- You have a lot of experience here and more admins who speak non-English languages would be nice, but I notice that you have not spent a lot of time on non-main namespaces (e.g. zero edits to properties). Are you confident you know/understand our policies regarding deletion/blocking/protection? BrokenSegue (talk) 00:50, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello @BrokenSegue:, I have proposed creation couple properties and I participate in discussions time to time. For deletions/protections/blocking, I've experiences as a former Turkish Wikipedia administrator, I also have read the policies here, including WD:DELETE WD:BLOCK WD:PPP WD:N and previous RfCs, I think I can help myself with the relevant applications. Zafer (talk) 20:41, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- The applicant has a short block on turkish wikipedia for sockpuppeting. I realize you were proposed by someone else but not divulging something like this up-front does not inspire confidence. I don't necessarily think sockpuppeting is unforgiveable in itself, but keeping quiet about it is concerning. Some explanations might be in order. Infrastruktur (talk) 19:12, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello @Infrastruktur:, thanks for this question, but it has funny story, @Uncitoyen: apply to wrong block, rollback in a same second as you can see on block history. And Uncitoyen message here on my message archive. Message translation writing is Hello Sakhalinio (my former username), you were blocked by me by mistake and the relevant action was immediately reverted. That's why I wanted to apologize to you and give you some information. I hope everything is clear. Regards, Zafer (talk) 20:41, 6 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- My apologies, I closed this request one day early. Zafer will have to wait for one day. --Lymantria (talk) 20:30, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

KonstantinaG07 3[edit]
RfP scheduled to end after 20 March 2024 17:37 (UTC)
- KonstantinaG07 (talk • contribs • new items • new lexemes • SUL • Block log • User rights log • User rights • xtools)
Hello! I am KonstantinaG07 - I am a former Wikidata admin and oversighter (I have been globally renamed). I was removed due to lengthy inactivity due to personal reasons.
I have now returned and plan to stay, and after also asking a couple of other editors' thoughts I would like to apply to get the sysop access again. My aim is to help with the sysop backlogs that seem to be growing - (instead of contributing in growing them).
Like in the past my main areas of focus would be counter-vandalism/spam, assisting in WD:RfD and protection requests / user reports at WD:AN. I am willing to handle WD:REVDEL requests as well since I had such an experience before, plus I intend to be involved in some non-complicated edit filter improvements (after testing in testwikidata)
As a disclaimer, I have briefly edited as Konstantina07 before returning, which is also declared in my userpage. The reason for it was some concerns I had re global rename involving some IRL info - I can elaborate privately if needed.
For transparency, my previous RfPs before the rename can be found here:
- Admin 1 (unsucessful)
- Admin 2
- Oversighter
Please feel free to ask me any questions, and thanks for the consideration --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 17:37, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Support - looks good and I think lapsed admins should be granted back their status with a really low bar. BrokenSegue (talk) 18:08, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- Support Normally I would have wanted to see more sustained activity (you came back just nine days ago after two and a half years of no edits, and your last 50 edits before that went back to May 2020). On the other hand, you have previously been an admin and have been active in the last few days, and like I said on Zafer's RfA, we need more admins and any help is good help. So, a support with a hope of sustained activity in the future. EPIC (talk) 10:46, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
