historiography (Q30277550): written body or collection of historical research works on a particular subject realized by historians, also included among their own objects of studies: (delete | history | links | entity usage | logs)

Duplicate of historiography (Q50675) --Mnnlaxer (talk) 01:54, 25 December 2017 (UTC)

On hold This item is linked from 10+ others. --DeltaBot (talk) 02:00, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
historiography (Q50675) covers both the discipline and its objects (the writing of history). historiography (Q30277550) represents "historiography" in the meaning of historical texts (it's mainly used as a genre like here: Comentarios Reales de los Incas (Q83599)). - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 10:44, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
I think what you're saying about 50675 is the same as the English wikipedia lead sentence "Historiography is the study of the methods of historians in developing history as an academic discipline, and by extension is any body of historical work on a particular subject". Not sure about other languages. As for 30277550, it only has one article, es Historiografía (género) (genre, I presume), and it redirects to Historiografía, the article for 50675. So on that point, it is a clear merge or delete. Mnnlaxer (talk) 01:44, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
And which meaning should be represented by the remaining item? The "genre" (any body of historical work) or the discipline? We need an item for the "genre" as it is actually used in genre-statements. We need an item for the discipline as it is used in statements referring to the academic discipline (e.g. about people like E. H. Carr (Q274764))
As to articles in other languages: there are articles who cover both (English, seemingly also the Spanish one), only the academic discipline (French), only the body of historical work (German, Dutch). We could move sitelinks (the French to history of historiography (Q2699662), the German and Dutch to historiography (Q30277550), but as long as there is no easy way to set redirects (in order to maintain the interwiki-links) this doesn't seem to be the best idea. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 10:45, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
See above, I'll leave it to others to decide the best course. Mnnlaxer (talk) 05:22, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
There is also study of history (Q1066186), which may be a merge either to Q50675 or history (Q309). Mnnlaxer (talk) 02:04, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
All these items have a link to an own German article. - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 22:48, 26 December 2017 (UTC)
There is no German article for 30277550. For historiography (Q50675), study of history (Q1066186), and history (Q309), I'm not surprised, the Germans have a word for everything. Perhaps you could help distinguishing the concepts for English and other languages. Worth noting that "science of history" (Geschichtswissenschaft) only has 9 entries. Mnnlaxer (talk) 01:44, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
This paragraph was refering to "There is also study of history (Q1066186), which may be a merge either to Q50675 or history (Q309).", not to Q30277550 (even though the German article at Q50675 is actually about Q30277550). - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 10:44, 27 December 2017 (UTC)
Now my head is hurting keeping these straight. Mnnlaxer (talk) 05:22, 28 December 2017 (UTC)
I agree with the merge of historical non-fiction (Q1517777) and historiography (Q30277550). - Valentina.Anitnelav (talk) 17:56, 21 February 2018 (UTC)
