Task: The bot extracts statements for items categorized into a commons category thanks to a hand written semantic description of the meaning of category membership.
Code: github
Function details: The bot retrieves the relevant items within the category, for the moment through interwikis and by reading the Artwork template. Than, it adds to these items the semantic of the category (by reading a human-made translation) only if the property is missing. For instance, Commons:Category:1890 paintings by Vincent van Gogh is
{"1890 paintings by Vincent van Gogh": {
"P31":{"Value":"Q3305213"},
"P170":{"Value":"Q5582"},
"P571":{"Value":"+1890-01-01T00:00:00Z/9"}
}
(I want to be able to handle categories such as Commons:Category:Paintings by Vincent van Gogh by year where the JSON is going to have several values for "P571", hence the verbosity.
This bot will especially be usefl for Property:P180 where a lot of work has been done. --Léna (talk) 07:06, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Support on principle. Can we propose new property descriptions and see the existing one ? pull requests, wiki page ? author TomT0m / talk page 17:48, 25 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- There is json file that you can change manually with pull requests. I'm working on a tool to make the edition easier. A wikipage would be very useful too, added to the to-do list :) Léna (talk) 10:38, 27 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
