Task/s: Importing images and audio files from the Catalan Wikipedia into Wikidata
Code: I don't have an online account
Function details: I am in a project to replace most taxonomy infoboxes in the Catalan Wikipedia with a new template that reads many parameters from Wikidata. The bot checks if the image is already there (watching for redirects), and if not, it loads the image with the legend (if any) into Wikidata image (P18). If the file is an audio file, it's loaded as audio (P51). If the image already exists and the original infobox has a legend, only the media legend (P2096) qualifier is updated. Then, the original parameters in the infobox get deleted, so the template has the least local information, and gets everything it can from Wikidata. I am sorry I wasn't aware of the procedures, and started without asking for the bot flag.
Also, after each run, I update a project page in ca:Usuari:JoRobot/Infotaula_ésser_viu with thumbnails for the images I loaded, and do a visual check in order to detect possible vandalism. So far, none have been found. --JoRobot (talk) 20:18, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- Please ensure that media legend (P2096) did not contain wikisyntax, as you did before (example). --Succu (talk) 20:56, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- Why? I understand that the goal of the legend is to be imported in captions in the corresponding Wikipedia; are there any limitations for that?. --Joutbis (talk) 22:48, 6 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- IMHO media legend (P2096) should be generally useable, not only in Wikipedias. Lymantria (talk) 05:35, 13 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- There have been discussions on the Catalan wikipedia about that, and no consensus was reached. But if the norm is to remove wikisyntax, I can do that, no problem. If you want, I may generate a list of all the articles with the template I am working on, and remove wikisyntax from the legends I have created, before going on to the main task.--Joutbis (talk) 08:58, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- Please, do so as to remove the wikisyntax. Lymantria (talk) 09:41, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
