Task/s: Batch edit bot for QuickStatements version 2
Code: Part of the QuickStatements tool (git)
Function details: As part of the rewrite of QuickStatements, to allow for new/improved functionality, I want to introduce a "batch mode". This will run a command batch from Labs, instead of from your browser, so you don't have to keep the browser open and the computer running all day. You can (eventually) submit batches through the browser, or through an API. The bot will do the editing on behalf of the batch submitter, with both batch and submitting user indicated and linked in the edit comment. In case of problems, it will be possible for admins to stop an individual batch, rather than block the entire bot. Demo edit. --Magnus Manske (talk) 14:16, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Hi Magnus - love this. Could you do a test edit that shows how you plan to indicate the submitting user in the edit comment? I didn't see that in the example you linked. ArthurPSmith (talk) 15:36, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- This is not implemented yet. Will leave a link here once it's done. --Magnus Manske (talk) 16:21, 1 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Will you check that locally blocked users can't use the tool and that non-confiremd users can't edit semi-proteced items? And will you provide an IP log file to checkusers such that checkusers investigations are still possible even if sockepuppets are solely editing through the tool? --Pasleim (talk) 18:54, 2 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- I can check for blocks.
I could also log IPs.Not sure if I'm allowed to do that on Tool Labs, or if I can even get the IPs - I believe they are masked to protect privacy. --Magnus Manske (talk) 20:01, 15 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

- Are we ready for approval here?--Ymblanter (talk) 19:56, 20 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]
- Can't stop after running. STOP THIS BATCH bottom doesn't work.--ԱշոտՏՆՂ (talk) 11:49, 22 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- Works for me, so that might have been a UTF-8 encoding issue with your username. If so, it should be fixed now. --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:00, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- The edit summaries should be changed such that they don't contain unsupported wikisyntax. --Pasleim (talk) 07:49, 23 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- I have changed the batch URL to a :toollabs: "local" one, which might be supported (untested). --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:00, 25 January 2017 (UTC) Update: Example diff --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:07, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

- Seems like the new version got live, despite this account not having a bot flag. Sjoerd de Bruin (talk) 12:40, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
- Well, it didn't get a bot flag when it wasn't live, so... --Magnus Manske (talk) 13:00, 25 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
