Copied from Wikidata talk:WikiProject Geology/Lists of sedimentary units by country The use of hangingwall/footwall in place of underlies/overlies appears to be an error or nonconventional usage. Per sources, including USGS and Britannica, the terms hangingwall and footwall are used in discussing faults (above/below the fault plane) and orebodies (above/below an orebody or mine working).
