Item count

The number of data items on the main page is wrong. This was already discussed multiple times but couldn't resolved so far. Most probably it's because the Wikimedia software ignores stub articles when counting content pages. On Template:Numberofarticles the number of items gets updated daily. I propose to use this template instead of {{NUMBEROFARTICLES:R}}. --Pasleim (talk) 16:59, 21 June 2016 (UTC)

@Pasleim:  Support. However, I think that {{Numberofarticles}} should be updated more frequently in that case (for example, every 6 hours). --abián 17:14, 24 August 2016 (UTC)
If {{Numberofarticles}} just counts every non-redirect in the main namespace, why not change the definition of an article on this wiki to that (by setting $wgArticleCountMethod to 'any')? - dcljr (talk) 01:25, 4 September 2016 (UTC)
Once known, that seems the obvious solution. :-) Thanks, dcljr. --abián 08:55, 4 September 2016 (UTC)

StackOverflow

What about adding a link to the Wikidata tag on StackOverflow in the "Contact" box? More discussions can be found there than on Quora. cc @Bene*:. -- Zorglub27 (talk) 11:07, 15 August 2016 (UTC)

@Zorglub27: Personally I don't see the point of spreading discussions away from our own platforms to external ones, but that's my POV. As long as we do have links to external platforms, I'd prefer such where e.g. User:Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) and User:Lea Lacroix (WMDE) are active. I don't know if this is true for StackOverflow (or for some of the other platforms we already do link). --YMS (talk) 07:50, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
We're monitoring all the currently linked ones. Every now and then I go look at Stackoverflow when it shows up in Twitter searches and so on but not more. --Lydia Pintscher (WMDE) (talk) 08:08, 19 September 2016 (UTC)
