Possible confusion over name of Property Te Papa agent ID (P3544)[edit]

I thought I should let folk know of a possible issue with the title of the property Te Papa agent ID (P3544). The Te Papa Museum identifier relates not just to artists whose works are held at the museum but also to scientists, collectors and other people who have contributed to the Museum of New Zealand such as curators and donors. See for example the identifier used in this item Jagoba Malumbres-Olarte (Q21390767) relating to a scientist. As a result I believe the property should be renamed as "Te Papa ID" to avoid confusion. --Ambrosia10 (talk) 20:33, 8 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Ambrosia10, PKM: I proposed this property and spend some time on getting it linked. In my experience it's always easier to expand scope than to reduce it. It started of as artists, but turns out it's a bit broader. In my opinion "Te Papa ID" is too broad. I like the "Te Papa person ID" suggestions. That isn't 100% coverage (also a couple of non-persons in there), but it's much better than the current "Te Papa artist ID". Multichill (talk) 13:50, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Multichill, PKM: I see and agree with your point that "Te Papa ID" is too broad. As my main concern is the confusion that may result with the "artist" part of the item description, I'm very happy with the proposed "Te Papa person ID" title. Thank you both for weighing in on this.--Ambrosia10 (talk) 17:48, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
✓ Done Moved all the old labels to aliases and added a new label in English and Dutch. This should trigger people in other languages to add a new label. Multichill (talk) 17:55, 9 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Use on organisations[edit]

I see that Google (Q95) and Australian Government (Q2991162) have got them. Is calling it a "person ID" a misnomer? Note the "Party type: Organisation" claim on the Te Papa items. Ghouston (talk) 04:31, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Works in collection constraint[edit]

@Hannolans:, I'm not sure that requiring has works in the collection (P6379) is a good idea. At least two of the entities with a Te Papa person ID, Jools Topp (Q55648193) and Lynda Topp (Q55648196), are not artists with works in Te Papa, but Te Papa has some related works. I suppose there are others like that. Ghouston (talk) 21:56, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, no in that case it is not a good idea. I thought it were all artists in the collection. --Hannolans (talk) 22:00, 12 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
