Talk to merge with Napoleon cake (Q15906640)[edit]
@CatCat, Danmichaelo, John Erling Blad (WMDE), Ranveig: There is a problem with this item and with Q15906640. In all other languages they are the same, but just a little different topping. Can you confirm this is the same for the Norwegian Wikipedia?
@Meleranz, MMFE, Robby: For you the same question, but then about the Luxembourgish wikipedia.
- Hope to hear from you! Q.Zanden questions? 11:08, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- For the Luxembourgish Wikipedia I've asked the author of the corresponding Article here to give his feedback on this place.--Robby (talk) 18:07, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
- Hi QZanden. The are several kinds of mille-feuilles: The common French one, the Russian Napoleon, the Polish Napoleonka, the Belgian Tompouce, etc.. Two approaches can be chosen: (i) either only a general article "mille-feuille" is allowed, and all variations must be treated therein, or (ii) if in a given wiki somebody has more to say about a given variation then he is allowed to outsource this to a separate article.
- Option (ii) is the one which is actually the main principle on all wikis, and not only we at lb-wiki applied it to the present case, but the above quoted examples of Napoleonka and Tompouce are outsourcing examples of en-wiki. But if option (i) would be to be preferred, we should open in our "mille-feuille" article a new section "variations" where we would need to transfer the content of "Napoleon (Russesche Kuch)", and you shall mandatorily write then also to en-wiki telling them that it is no longer allowed to outsource Napoleonka and Tompouce either.
- I believe that the issue comes here from the fact that the Russians have an article about their Napoleon and in this article they talk also a bit about the other mille-feuille variations, while other wikis have an article about the French mille-feuille in which they talk also a bit about the other variations and notably the Russian Napoleon. Maybe the easiest would be if ru-wiki would start an article about "mille-feuille", so that they will no longer treat the general topic in an article about just a subdivision of the general topic ;)
