Should be reworked into "speculative fiction / fantastic"[edit]

This item should be reworked to maintain support for terms used in different parts of the world for exactly the same meaning. Eastern Europe does not use the term "speculative fiction" and uses "fantastic" instead, and yet both terms from both perspectives include sci-fi, horror, fantasy, etc, and are described in the same way - i.e. are effectively the same thing. Currently all the articles and categories are in complete chaos and connected up wrong. It requires a massive effort to link everything correctly.

Here are two detailed discussions on the subject from Russian and French perspectives: 1. French, 2. Russian

Here's a ready-made plan for how the update should be done:

  • speculative fiction / fantastic [broad meta genre, referred to by articles on various wikipedias under one of these titles]
    • speculative fiction [articles describing the TERM from POV of those who don't use it as a meta genre in their region]
    • fantastic [same as above]
    • paranormal fiction [something that one day could be explained by science]
    • supernatural fiction [something that will always remain enigmatic]
      • fantastique [narrower French genre, see French talk for details; en:Fantastique goes here]
  • speculative fiction / fantastic literature
