Motivation[edit]

I could try to get the number of IDs from that sourced post by number of lines but there are genres that appear 2 or 3 times because of double parents. –Guttitto (talk) 00:20, 22 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion[edit]

Comment. I made MnM catalogue for this a while ago: https://mix-n-match.toolforge.org/#/catalog/4892. But then I didn't add this property as RYM's film part is planned to migrate to a separate project at some point: Cinemos. The other point is that this plan has been around since 2015 and nothing shows that the developers are moving towards it and that it will happen any time soon.
Also worth mentioning that they now have duplicate IDs between the old version of genre pages (still relevant for films) and the new version to which the music part has moved a year ago: rock-opera-1 vs Rock+Opera. I think at some point they will update the film part as well and then we will have to change all the IDs entirely. (Which I can easily do, as I've been monitoring the music/film/game genres on their website for a couple of years). But then again, being familiar with the pace and priorities of the project development, that could be 10 years from now. So I guess I support it as it is for now.
