Some notes about this property

• The regular expression given for this property is meant to match codes from the "Permanent" Location Code Number scheme used in the 2001 census. Please use Indian census area code (2011) (P5578) for 2011 census codes; pre-2001 codes may require other properties, but their creation is on hold pending available data from those censuses.
• Within the various district census handbooks, the formats for the codes are represented inconsistently: some present all higher-level values together (as in state code+district code+subdistrict code+village code), while some only present the relevant value (as in just the state/district/subdistrict/village code). For the 2001 census, the concatenation of higher-level values is appropriate as, for example, two villages/subdistricts/districts in two different states may have the same village/subdistrict/district number.
