Conflation/Duplication of Urban Agglomeration and Territory Equivalent pages[edit]
{{Edit request}}
The Urban Agglomeration of Quebec City and the related Equivalent Territory are different entities that cover nearly but not entirely the same area.
- The Urban Agglomeration comprises three municipalities, Quebec City, L'Ancienne-Lorette, and Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures. It is a real administrative area that provides services such as transport and water in these municipalities.
- The Territory Equivalent comprises those three municipalities, plus two much smaller areas: Notre-Dame-des-Anges, which is a hospital existing in its own municipality for tax reasons since 1855; and Wendake, which is an Indian Reserve. These two areas are not part of the urban agglomeration. The Territory Equivalent is just an area used by Statistics Canada and ISQ for census and statistical purposes. See Wikipedia:Equivalent territory.
For a visual representation, look at the Urban agglomeration of Québec on OpenStreetMap. You can see the enclaves of Notre-Dame-des-Anges and Wendake.
There are currently two Wikidata items: Q2826812 and this one, Q11832939.
- Q2826812 has only one Wikipedia article attached, an English page describing the Urban Agglomeration.
- Q11832939 is linked to French, German, and Portuguese pages describing the Urban Agglomeration and English and Polish pages describing the Territory Equivalent. It is also currently described as an instance of both (P31).
I'm an OpenStreetMap editor not a Wikidata editor, so I'm not entirely sure what the right course of action is here. I'd guess a new item needs to be created for the Territory Equivalent, relevant information moved from this page to that one, and Q2826812 redirected to here. It's all a bit advanced for me and given the page is protected I'm hoping someone else can help me sort it out. Thanks. Graptemys g (talk) 02:56, 18 May 2023 (UTC)
- @Graptemys g If you consider that moving all the stuff about the urban agglomeration, with not. The population is probably different enough concept for two different items. Not sure ow thet should be linked. As the Agglomeration is not really under the Equivalent Territory. Fralambert (talk) 19:01, 19 May 2023 (UTC)

- Thanks! Just one more thing: The OpenStreetMap relation ID property needs to be removed from this page. I already added it to the other page and updated the wikidata tags in OpenStreetMap. Graptemys g (talk) 18:16, 20 May 2023 (UTC)
