Iain Baxter is not a printmaker

[edit]

Hello, I deprecated the occupation as printmaker, because Museum of Modern Art's statement is wrong, here's why:

  • The reason why Baxter was qualified as a printmaker is this artwork.
  • The MoMA states it is an etching & aquatint, but it is very not likely: all seems to point to a w:photogravure, which is a technique of printing photographs.
  • It is possible to etch on a copperplate after a photogravure has been produced, but here nothing indicates it has been the case.

The artist probably explored a new medium to print his photographs, but nothing tends to make him a printmaker... Daehan (talk) 15:22, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
