Redundancy with Q503354

[edit]

What is the difference between Q56572789 and Q503354? They seem pretty synonymous to me, also there is no intersection of interwiki links. Who "invented" the German term "Weihnachtscarole"? This word simply does not exist in German. Why is Q503354 a musical genre, but Q56572789 is not? There is so much inconsistency about these two items since the split. I am considering a deletion request against Q56572789. @Azertus, Moebeus: FYI. --FordPrefect42 (talk) 16:30, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @FordPrefect42: I'm probably mostly to blame for this, from what I remember I think it started as an effort to separate secular Christmas songs from religious Christmas songs and subclasses of "carol". Looks like that failed, so I wouldn't be opposed to merging them back together. As to "Weihnachtscarole"? Looks like that came from me too, no idea what the source of that could have been. Anyways, I'm a little burnt out on Church music at the moment so feel free to improve it as you see fit. EDIT: I noticed now that Wikipedia also has categories for both, that might have had something to do with the split: Category:Christmas carols and Category:Christmas songs Moebeus (talk) 17:05, 16 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    • I remember doing some editing here. I remember it seemed easier than it did. At least now, the structure from Wikipedia is followed, even though the exact difference between the two is vague. --Azertus (talk) 11:12, 21 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
