Dear friends. The official place name of the municipality is Vila Joiosa. You can search the Valencian Toponymic Corpus and you will not find the name "Villajoyosa". Instead, you will find the name accepted by the different local and regional governments, "La Vila Joiosa"

The Government of the Valencian Country comments on its website: As regards grammatical works, of note is the Gramàtica normativa valenciana (2006) and the published version entitled Gramàtica valenciana bàsica (2016). And standing out in the onomastic field is the Corpus toponímic valencià (2009), a unique work in its genre that compiles over 50,000 toponyms in the Valencian Community. Interest in and concern for place names is especially deeply felt in this region (https://www.avl.gva.es/web/avl/info-english) greetings --Castell (talk) 21:58, 31 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The AVL is only relevant in the escope of Valencian dialect, but they have no authority over the official name of how a place is called in other languages. In the same fashion the RAE regualates Spanish language. In the case of this municipality, both names are co-official as long as I know. The local goverment refers to the toen both as Villajoyosa and La Vila Joiosa and its website is villajoyosa.com. Regarding English language, the name used in the English Wikipedia is Villajoyosa and a Google search gives more than 4.300.000 hits for Villajoyosa and 884,000 for La Vila Joiosa using English as prefered laguage. ⟨ RoberPL Dígame ⟩ 08:00, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
