Substitution of spaces with underscores required[edit]

Hi! @לערי_ריינהארט Long time ago I selected a user name containing a space to test this functionality WikiMedia wide. This template needs a fix. לערי ריינהארט (talk) 13:12, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Does this send a notification when showing the preview? —DSGalaktos (talk) 12:40, 21 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

No, @DSGalaktos, I don't believe it does. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 07:39, 29 August 2023 (UTC)..[reply]

Error trapping[edit]

Can someone please apply some Lua code, so that use in the form {{Ping|User:Lydia Pintscher (WMDE)}} works? Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 13:58, 26 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Add <bdi>[edit]

MediaWiki often adds <bdi> elements around user names (e. g. in history and diff pages) to make sure that they don’t mess up the directionality of surrounding text. I think this template should do the same. Consider, for example:

1. some comment
2. some other comment --مثال, some date

without <bdi>
@مثال: 1. I think that…; 2. totally agree
with <bdi>
@مثال: 1. I think that…; 2. totally agree

Without the <bdi>, the right-to-left directionality of the user name (“example” in Persian, by the way) extends to the “1. ” as well, because those characters have no or weak directionality. --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE) (talk) 11:37, 29 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
