Straat

Goedenmiddag. Kun je mij vertellen hoe ik een straat toevoeg wanneer die nog niet bestaat? Het gaat om het adres van Q2572558 (IJzeren Molen). Quistnix (talk) 12:20, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Quistnix (talk) 12:30, 1 January 2020 (UTC)

Virgil

The aliases added in the edit [1] are Latin, French, Polish, and formed with full stops added to parts of the name. These are not English aliases and should not be added indiscriminantly. --EncycloPetey (talk) 06:20, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

ULAN is a very respectable source for art. ULAN considers these valid aliases, see http://vocab.getty.edu/page/ulan/500337098 . In the case of "Virgil, ..", this alias is source to ARTstor (Q4653959) and German National Library (Q27302). ULAN occasionally has some odd aliases, but it's generally very good. I have no plans to alter the bot. No point on undoing the edit because it will just be added again next week. Multichill (talk) 17:18, 18 January 2020 (UTC)

PetScan JSON issue

Resolved, I think. --Magnus Manske (talk) 14:39, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

@Magnus Manske: excellent! I first did a baseline run using the old petscan (diff, someone has been busy) and after that an update using the new petscan. All solved. Thank you, Multichill (talk) 20:15, 20 January 2020 (UTC)

As I mentioned a number of times before, "emails par le célèbre Petitot" and "emails par Petitot" are not aliases, and should not be listed as such; they are just advertisements. Please stop doing it. Sapphorain (talk) 09:38, 23 January 2020 (UTC)

As I mentioned before: I'm not going to rehash User talk:Multichill/Archives/2019/May#Aliases. Multichill (talk) 19:29, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
Sapphorain, you don't understand that to fix this specific issue, you need to contact the Getty and complain there. Complaining here will get you nowhere. The alias data (not advertisements btw) come from the Getty. Both of the offending aliases you dislike can still be seen in their artist record here 500020603. This has nothing to do with Multichill's bot, which is functioninig as expected (and desired!). Jane023 (talk) 20:59, 23 January 2020 (UTC)
What you are claiming is that a bot may blindly (of course, blindly) use a source in order to transmit the information that, say, "advertisement" is a synonym of "alternative name". What I am saying is that a source leading to such an absurdity has an undeserved reputation, is just not reliable, and should not be used. At least not used at all by a (blind) bot.
