Rijksmonumenten[edit]

Multichill (talk) 20:59, 11 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ODNB items[edit]

Hi there. I noticed that you had unlinked a couple of ODNB items on mix'n'match. Both were in fact correct. In the case of Janet Seymour Smith i.e. Q18819506 there was a possibility of confusion if you were looking at the (English) description, because that item was automatically created from a page that mentions her husband instead. I have changed that now.

In any case the only way to checked ODNB identifiers is to follow the link, which leads to a biography, but it is behind a paywall. This catalog is particularly confusing because there are "co-subjects" such as Jane, and they have their own identifiers. Charles Matthews (talk) 16:39, 13 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

You added Structurae structure ID (P454) = 20000256 on Pont du Gard (Q189764) but the ID was already here. It create a constraint violation on P454.

Vine[edit]

Hello, why did you divided Q917284 to create a single item (Q21171819) for English term "Vine"? Even Simple English interwiki with the same name belongs to Q917284. --UAwiki (talk) 16:24, 31 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Verdrag inzake de Internationale Maritieme Organisatie[edit]

Dag Paul. BoH (talk) 08:39, 6 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Maps[edit]

Can you please replace your taxon range map image (P181)-addings (not in taxons) to locator map image (P242), at least for administrative divisions? --Infovarius (talk) 10:35, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Zennegatsluisbrug[edit]

Moeilijk ...
Met vriendelijke groet , PaulBe.

GTAA on Wikidata[edit]

You receive this message because you previously matched persons from the GTAA (the Thesaurus for Audiovisual Archives) with items on Wikidata. We would like to inform you about some improvements that we have made to that catalogue on Mix’n’Match. We have improved the automatic links and added additional information from our catalogue (what we’ve called ‘extracted terms’) to the terms. We hope that this makes matching the thesaurus with Wikidata that much more fun and easier. Read more about this project here or in Dutch WikiProject Dutch Media History nl here. Wikinews topic categories[edit]

Hi. Re Misrata (Q131323). Wikinews topic categories link to the same wikidata item as the corresponding Wikipedia article. (As I recall, a somewhat similar case is Wikisource author pages which are also associated with Wikipedia articles.) --Pi zero (talk) 00:36, 21 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Relating to Wikinews, I noticed this edit: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q80&diff=prev&oldid=835790418&diffmode=source Where, when using 'the Distributed game' you merged something from Wikinews with Tim Berners-Lee (Q80), and all of a sudden the person who is credited with inventing the Web is described in a dozen languages as a Wikinews article... Bad merge[edit]

Paulbe (talk) 00:53, 25 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ex-Q51001195[edit]

Sorry for seeing the request to late. So I can't see of which person you was talking during the request. I would like to recreate the item in within the framework of the Archive Guide - German Colonial Past (Q64160985) thesaurus section thesaurus. See request for deletion
UJung (talk) 07:00, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • The only thing i can see now that the name of the man was "Robert Beyer". I do not have an opinion about this person. I did object to an illegit item about a person (with a very generic name, there are several others on Wikidata with exactly the same name), without any qualifying data and without a source. If this is a notable person mentioned in relevant sources and if there is more to say about him than just his name and profession (born where? in what year? why is he more relevant than any other railway fitter?), than anyone can make a new item on Wikipedia and Wikidata about him. Paulbe (talk) 22:27, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hallo UJung, some more remarks of mine:
Following your direct link to a thesaurus, i got a message "Seite nicht gefunden". That is not nice, you referred me to non-existing web-page :-( .
Re-reading your message, i now get the impression that you insist that you are going to re-create the deleted item, without adding qualifying information or source.
I see now that you are involved with a history project that seems attached with a recognized university. If that is indeed true, why don't you first make a Wikipedia article and a Wikidata lemma about the project/archive ? That is more relevant than a (semi-)unidentified (just a generic name) person who seem to have worked (in one year, no indication, that he was present that whole year, or before that or after that year) on some railway. Paulbe (talk) 23:01, 7 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello and thanks for the comment. I hope the link to the thesaurus is now fixed. Yes there is a history project. And I am also behind the Wikidata:WikiProject_European_Colonialism. I understand that more information about a person will be helpful. Concerning Mr. Beyer we have for the moment only the information you've seen. I need to add that we also use the data corpus of people, organizations, events, etc related to German colonial past for generating a list of search terms which we use to retrieve data from open catalogues. Although Beyer was just some months in the colonies and he hasn't that kind of nobility, without the Wikidata entry it would not be possible to find some written or pictured heritage of him e.g. in Archivportal D. These ego documents are very helpful to understand what was going on in the colonies. We also think that his journey could have an impact on his further life. Maybe he is mentioned some years later as a follower or resistant in Nazi Germany. We don't know but we could know. UJung (talk) 07:03, 8 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

UvA[edit]

Groet, Eissink (talk) 20:10, 24 December 2020 (UTC).[reply]

Call for participation in the interview study with Wikidata editors[edit]

Dear Paulbe,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King’s College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research that develops a personalized recommendation system to suggest Wikidata items for the editors based on their interests and preferences. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I would love to talk with you to know about your current ways to choose the items you work on in Wikidata and understand the factors that might influence such a decision. Your cooperation will give us valuable insights into building a recommender system that can help improve your editing experience.

Participation is completely voluntary. You have the option to withdraw at any time. Your data will be processed under the terms of UK data protection law (including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018). The information and data that you provide will remain confidential; it will only be stored on the password-protected computer of the researchers. We will use the results anonymized to provide insights into the practices of the editors in item selection processes for editing and publish the results of the study to a research venue. If you decide to take part, we will ask you to sign a consent form, and you will be given a copy of this consent form to keep.

If you’re interested in participating and have 15-20 minutes to chat (I promise to keep the time!), please either contact me at kholoudsaa@gmail.com or kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmmFHaiB20nK14wrQJgfrA18PtmdagyeRib3xGtvzkdn3Lgw/viewform?usp=sf_link with your choice of the times that work for you.

I’ll follow up with you to figure out what method is the best way for us to connect.

Please contact me if you have any questions or require more information about this project.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Regards

Call for participation in a task-based online experiment[edit]

Dear Paulbe,

I hope you are doing good,

I am Kholoud, a researcher at King's College London, and I work on a project as part of my PhD research, in which I have developed a personalised recommender system that suggests Wikidata items for the editors based on their past edits. I am collaborating on this project with Elena Simperl and Miaojing Shi.

I am inviting you to a task-based study that will ask you to provide your judgments about the relevance of the items suggested by our system based on your previous edits. Participation is completely voluntary, and your cooperation will enable us to evaluate the accuracy of the recommender system in suggesting relevant items to you. We will analyse the results anonymised, and they will be published to a research venue.

The study will start in late January 2022 or early February 2022, and it should take no more than 30 minutes.

If you agree to participate in this study, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSees9WzFXR0Vl3mHLkZCaByeFHRrBy51kBca53euq9nt3XWog/viewform?usp=sf_link I will contact you with the link to start the study.

For more information about the study, please read this post: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/User:Kholoudsaa In case you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me through my mentioned email.

Thank you for considering taking part in this research.

Hi, I saw you added the continent property in the ancient city, and I'm wondering if that's really needed. According to the property's talk page, it's preferably used for "Use for countries, bi-continental areas, locations in Antarctica.". It makes sense to be honest, so to not overuse it where it isn't needed, such as this case. Jimkats (talk) 20:36, 18 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
