LCCN
Danke schonmal.--CENNOXX (talk) 20:40, 25 March 2013 (UTC)
- Erledigt. PS: Die letzten Bearbeitungen gestern waren schon richtig. --Pyfisch (talk) 16:06, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
- Alles klar.--CENNOXX (talk) 16:38, 26 March 2013 (UTC)
Bot
Hi, I'd like to take a look at the script you're using for importing data from de.wp. Is it possible? I would like to learn how to automate my work here in some cases. And if you're going to reply on your talk page, please let me know you did it. :) Cheers, --Sannita - not just another it.wiki sysop 00:14, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- Have a look on User:FischBot/code/main.py. The Code isn't documented yet. The Bot is monothreaded at the moment (will be change) and the target to work on is given directly in the code (also to be changed). I have written some special classes in an extra file for items and claims. The rules how to extract data are stored in rules.py. If you have questions please ask. If you have tasks for my bot just say, I will do them. --Pyfisch (talk) 12:33, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
Wikidata weekly summary #53
- Development
- Got some external professional review of our code and architecture and started working on their feedback
- Worked on reducing the dispatch lag (the time it takes for changes on Wikidata to be sent to the Wikipedias for display in watchlist, recent changes and to purge affected pages)
- Worked on using Redis for job queue to improve the lag situation even further
- Created new Wikibase Query extension for phase 3 functionality
- Autocomments & Autosummaries for SetClaim module
- Worked on the GeoCoordinate parser
- Events/Press
- right now: GLAM-WIKI 2013
- Discussions
- The RFC about bureaucrats was closed
- RfC about policy for translation admins
- We need feedback from contributors working on references addition or having tried to add references to statements. Please comment about your problems or your trials at d:Help:Sources
- Other Noteworthy Stuff
- Deployment of phase 2 on the remaining Wikipedias was delayed because of a high lag of changes being propagated to the Wikipedias. The lag has been reduced considerably now and is going down even more. The new date for deployment will not be next week because there are other large changes on Wikimedia infrastructure scheduled that we do not want to interfere with. It will hopefully happen very soon after that though.
- Next code update on wikidata.org is planned for Wednesday. This should include qualifiers and bugfixes.
- There will probably be a short outage/read-only for wikidata.org on Tuesday (database is being switched to MariaDB)
- If you're a student and interested in coding on Wikidata consider applying for Google Summer of Code.
- There is a new user right: property creators
- There is now a page to request deletion of a property
- We now have Bureaucrats
- Reasonator was improved and extended (1 2)
- Open Tasks for You
- Hack on one of these
- Help draft the next weekly summary
Based on feedback for last week’s call for comments we will continue this newsletter. However more community help will be needed. From now on they’ll be drafted at d:Wikidata:Status updates/Next and your help is very welcome.
bot-flag
please flag all edits by your bot as bot-edits. ist z.b hier nicht passiert: [1] [2] Akkakk (talk) 17:57, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
--Pyfisch (talk) 18:27, 15 April 2013 (UTC)
Hello Pyfisch!
I don't understand... You have closed Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/DrTrigonBot but not given the bot flag to my bot... so what's the point? Thanks and greetings! --DrTrigon (talk) 06:27, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sorry. I checked Category:Requests for permissions/Bot for old entries, which are not anymore on Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot, they are (usually) closed and the category should be removed. Because old requests are stored in Category:Archived requests for permissions, by using the template {{discussion top}}, I added it to your request. Additionally, I don't have the rights to give you the botflag. Just ask an admin to you the flag. Btw I reverted my edits at your request. --Pyfisch (talk) 13:58, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- No problem - makes much more sense now... ;) Greetings --DrTrigon (talk) 15:00, 17 April 2013 (UTC)

A new bot list
Hi there! Per a request I have been working on a new informative bot list (that has secretly been hidden under the current list at Wikidata:List_of_bots. I think I am finished and it would be great if every botop (including you) could add your bot to the new list. I have added Addbot already and tried to make the template simple! Goodluck and if you have any problems get in touch on my talk page! ·Add§hore· Talk To Me! 20:21, 22 April 2013 (UTC)
Hallo!

Chemical formula
- Hi. I saw ur edits on alunite (Q338106). Why did u add a '|' and changed the order? Where do u get the small numbers? Barbosalite (Q807865) has the chemical formula Fe2+Fe3+2(PO4)2(OH)2, are there superscript symbols available too? --Chris.urs-o (talk) 07:33, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

--Succu (talk) 15:34, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
--Pyfisch (talk) 09:53, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

Bot adding wrong statements
Your bot is adding country of citizenship (P27) → China (Q29520) ("cultural region, ancient civilization, and nation in East Asia, mostly refer to the People's Republic of China in political situation and rarely refer to the Republic of China"), while it should link to People's Republic of China (Q148), which is the actual item for the "country in East Asia". --Ricordisamoa 19:29, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for reporting it. According to Property talk:P27#Bottask proposal theire are no clear rules how to move it, because in the Category on the German Wikipedia are persons from all Chinese countrys. --Pyfisch (talk) 14:09, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
- In few days I'll start bot-moving all those claims. --Ricordisamoa 00:33, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
For your comment on Wikidata:Requests for permissions/Bot/SamoaBot 27
I don't think such page would be useful, since we have now the apposite gadget: any user can now merge items by himself, and it's easier to track who stated the merge to be done. --Ricordisamoa 01:24, 30 May 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, great to have this tool. I didn't knew it. So a merge request page will not be needed. --Pyfisch (talk) 15:36, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
Country of citizenship
I noticed that your bot imported Russia as country of citizenship for persons who lived in Russian Empire/Soviet Union. I think will be good idea to remove such imprecise data and don't import it by bot. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 14:27, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- What should this message say to me? Should the bot stop in general importing countries of citizenship, or only not Russia? PS: Soviet Union is no valid item for P27 --Pyfisch (talk) 15:43, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- If there bot could not extract data in historical context (former countries), it should import only data for modern people. Why Soviet Union is not valid country? Same may go to Austria-Hungary, Yugoslavia, German Democratic Republic, etc. --EugeneZelenko (talk) 16:02, 31 May 2013 (UTC)
- Soviet Union (Q15180) is definitely a valid country. Mushroom (talk) 12:22, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

The bot has also been wrongly using China (Q29520) (cultural region) as a country of citizenship for Chinese people. If the person's date of birth is after 1949 the country should be People's Republic of China (Q148), before that it could be history of the Republic of China (Q1151968). Before 1912 there was the Qing dynasty (Q8733), and so on. Anyway, please stop adding China (Q29520). Mushroom (talk) 12:22, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- It is not in the contraint list. If you want to change please add it to these countries to the one of constraints. --Pyfisch (talk) 13:26, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- I added the Soviet Union to the constraint list yesterday. What to do with China before 1912 is being discussed here, I'm not sure what's best. Mushroom (talk) 15:28, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- It is not in the contraint list. If you want to change please add it to these countries to the one of constraints. --Pyfisch (talk) 13:26, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- Also noticed above. --Ricordisamoa 06:10, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- Bot adds now the correct item for China and it stopped to add Russia. --Pyfisch (talk) 13:26, 3 June 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. I think the biggest problem is that people on Wikipedia are often categorized based on ethnicity. People like Dante Alighieri (Q1067) and Leonardo da Vinci (Q762) were certainly Italian, but they didn't hold Italian citizenship because Italy wasn't a country before 1861. So all the items about people who died before 1861 and are currently marked as Italian will have to be fixed. The same is true for German people before 1871, and probably many others. It's a tricky thing to get right. Mushroom (talk) 15:28, 3 June 2013 (UTC)

Use of disambiguation items as statement values
Hi, I just came across this old edit by FischBot where an item linking to disambiguation pages is used as place of birth. This kind of thing happens often (see list at User:Byrial/Used-disambiguations), although I don't know how often FischBot does it. But it would be good if you are able to add a check that the intended value for inserted claims is not disambiguations. Thank you, Byrial (talk) 14:01, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Hallo Pyfisch!
--Pyfisch (talk) 16:00, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
- Achso! Sowieso glaube ich dass, da die ADB sehr oft verwendet wird, vielleicht würde es sinn machen jedes Band als einen einzelnen Item einzutragen. has part(s) (P527) / part of (P361) sind dazu geeignet. Soll ich dir helfen? --Micru (talk) 20:01, 12 August 2013 (UTC)
--Pyfisch (talk) 07:27, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

DevelopmentWord from John- To give this section some life, since the development team had their holidays last week meaning nothing really got done (let them have one week off at least), I'll say a few words. 2014 is a new year and thus a new start, over the last year Wikidata celebrated its first birthday which brought reflection over what Wikidata had accomplish. Therefore I want to use the start of 2014 to reflect what Wikidata can do. For my personal over view see this page. For the summary, while it is meant to be a weekly simple update, I feel this can be used a lot more effective to put across not only what happened on Wikidata but things about Wikidata on other wikis, I am hoping to start a section over this within the next few weeks. If you have any suggestions for the summary, feel free to drop me a message at meta or Wikidata. Thanks.
