Notability? EugeneZelenko (talk) 15:07, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello @EugeneZelenko,
For the notability, she had several articles. First on a court case where she was the victim of harassment. Then she had several articles and interviews about her and the content she produces. I do not know if it is enough to be consider notable for Wikidata, but I hope it will help you.

They're all entries created by one editor who is building a family tree about his own family ancestry meaning average person building an elaborate family tree on a typical family on Wiki Graywalls (talk) 13:43, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

  •  Keep There is no rule banning genealogy. These do not involve living people involved in self-promotion and they have a structural need as family members of other people with entries. For instance we have the children of Joseph Henderson (Q6283892) for which we have obituaries of him in 5 newspapers. Q108054042 served in the American Revolutionary War and is part of project to add in all DAR and SAR entries for people that served in that war. Any dead person that can be described by serious and public sources, or has a structural need, is welcome. This is starting to look like harassment, you have been nominating images of these people also. You have been deleting the family tree function from the category pages, and were told to stop. --RAN (talk) 05:13, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
It was suggested by an admin at Commons to start with bringing non-notable ones on wikidata for deletion. Your accusation is unseemly. I am making AGF edits. Wikimedia isn't family genealogy project where everyday people start assembling their own family tree. Obituaries are usually submitted by the family, so it's not an indication of notability. Graywalls (talk) 18:05, 4 September 2024 (UTC)
  • Wikimedia is whatever community consensus wants it to be. That person you quote wrote: "Personally I would start with are the people for whom the category is created notable? If they have a Wikidata item perhaps start nominating that for deletion if its non notable" One person's personal opinion is not Wikilaw or community consensus. Wikidata:Notability only requires that entries can be described by serious and public sources or have a structural need. Apparently if a tree can be described by serious and public sources it is welcome at Wikidata or if we need people to link together other people structurally in the tree. The only other restriction is self promotion, so you cannot add in yourself structurally, unless independently notable. It appears that you are trying to apply English Wikipedia notability rules which involves "fame". Wikidata only cares that "serious and public sources" can be used to generate the data in the entry. You wrote: "Obituaries are usually submitted by the family, so it's not an indication of notability", again some are and some are not. Either way Wikidata is agnostic to who wrote it, so long as the obit is "serious and public". Satirical obits from The Onion and other similar websites would not be serious. --RAN (talk) 03:52, 5 September 2024 (UTC)
I have the right to start a discussion here and your accusation of "harassment", which you apparently make against multiple people is failure to assume good faith. The entire purpose of this discussion is to gather consensus. Graywalls (talk) 04:00, 6 September 2024 (UTC)
  • I noticed you have been nominating that person's entries at English Wikipedia, then you were nominating that person's entries at Commons, then nominating that person's family tree template from category pages and were told to stop, and now you are nominating that person's entries at Wikidata, which had me write: "starting to look like harassment". It is a simple statement. If you were nominating items for deletion because they all were missing dates, or all were conflations, or all were duplicates, I would not have said that. The only thing they have in common is the creator. --RAN (talk) 01:49, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Which were all laid out as a foundation for building various non-notable articles about his family members he's created on en.Wikipedia. Now that many of them are starting to be cleared, it's time to remove the foundation built for them too. Graywalls (talk) 19:42, 9 September 2024 (UTC)
You are aware that this is Wikidata and not Wikipedia right? Wikidata does not use English Wikipedia notability rules. Any dead person that can be described by serious and public references can have an entry. --RAN (talk) 05:30, 10 September 2024 (UTC)
