About[edit]

This WikiProject is linked to a project running at the Museum für Naturkunde (MfN) in Berlin, Germany from July till December 2022 (with follow-up work done in 2023). It aims to open up internal information on collectors and other collection agents in some way affiliated with the museum and to make them accessible via Wikidata. A detailed project report including the approach taken and an analysis of the results was published in 2024 (https://doi.org/10.3897/rio.10.e118851).

Events[edit]

  • 1st edit-a-thon (internal training for MfN staff, 29 & 30 September, 2022)
  • 2nd edit-a-thon (external, international, 17 & 18 November, 2022)
  • additional smaller editing events ("mini edit-a-thons") at the MfN
  • Further edit-a-thons are planned, e.g. in collaboration with libraries in Berlin (autumn 2024).

Properties[edit]

In addition to basic biographical data (names and aliases, DOB, DOD, etc.), a number of central properties were used for the whole dataset if applicable and a number of additional properties used for part of the dataset if data were easily accessible.
