Competition with "JedeSchule.de ID"[edit]

User @DerIch27 has recently mentioned another property in WP-DE discussion de:Diskussion:Liste von Schulen in Rheinland-Pfalz#Neu erzeugen.

JedeSchule.de ID (P9224) and this proposal are very similar:

<JedeSchule.de ID> = "RP" + "-" + <Rhineland-Palatinate school ID>

e.g. "Integrierte Gesamtschule Ernst Bloch" has an ID of RP-70021.

There is only a small advantage at the moment, that URL https://schulen.bildung-rp.de/einzelanzeige.html?tx_wfqbe_pi1%5Buid%5D=70021 looks better than https://jedeschule.de/schulprofil/index.html?id=RP-70021, and that the regular expression for the format of a "Rhineland-Palatinate school ID" would be easier to maintain.

But I think it is necessary to focus on the maintenance of only one property, so that I would agree to drop my proposal here in favor of the existing property "JedeSchule.de ID", or we should at least suspend this proposal as long as the usage of "JedeSchule.de ID" is under discussion.

I suppose it is possible to use "JedeSchule.de ID" as well when importing school numbers from WP info boxes to WD, using e.g. a Harvest Template which adds the prefix "RP-". In the worst case, if "JedeSchule.de" stops activity one day, we will be able to rename "JedeSchule.de ID" to "German school ID", and the data is still correct. T. Conclusion after discussion in WP-DE: The RP-ID is the atomic form of the "JedeSchule.de ID" and expresses how the data source (the ministry) represents the number. It will be easy to transport recorded school IDs into the JedeSchule.de format using automated updates if necessary. The argument of unnecessary redundancy between two similar properties does not apply because we are talking about rare processes. T. Wirbitzki (talk) 01:20, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
