The Source MetaData WikiProject does not exist. Please correct the name.

WD has maybe 10 science classifications and many suffer from the problem you noted: that they group several distinct items under the same headings.

Some also repeat the same major branch of science (eg Biology) in several levels. So they are neither unique nor unambiguous.

BTW, the archived page you found https://web.archive.org/web/20211025213640/http://taxonomies.labs.crossref.org/?p=201 is a treasure trove of science classifications, eg https://web.archive.org/web/20211025213650/http://taxonomies.labs.crossref.org/?p=161 leads to https://bioportal.bioontology.org/ontologies/PLOSTHES .
