trade route (Q405155)/trade route (Q1574938)

Items involved: Q405155Talk, Q1574938Talk Status:    resolved

To an English speaker these appear to be the same concept at first, but I am unsufficiently familiar with German to understand the difference between Handelsstraße and Handelsweg. — Ipoellet (talk) 20:23, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

@Ipoellet: "Handelsweg" is the route a product takes (by ship, by air, etc). "Handelsstraße" is literally a street and was back then the only "Handelsweg" since trading was done on foot. In other words, Handelsstraße is one of many form a Handelsweg can be. It is even listed as an example in the latter article. --Anton Sachs (talk) 22:23, 26 January 2018 (UTC)
@Anton Sachs: In English "streets" are generally just in cities/towns/villages, i.e. = "Stadtstraße". So for clarification, when you say "'Handelsstraße' is literally a street", do you mean that a "Handelsstraße" is only a type of "Stadtstraße", or can it be a "Landstraße"/"Hauptlandstraße" (= American English "road"/"highway", roughly) as well?
Also, does "Handelsstraße" include or exclude transport routes by rail? — Ipoellet (talk) 21:22, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
@Ipoellet: Maybe road is a better word. This is most likely the most famous "Handelsstraße": en:Silk Road. Hope you got now the idea. --Anton Sachs (talk) 12:09, 28 January 2018 (UTC)
@Anton Sachs: Thank you. This answers my immediate issue, and I've updated the English labels and descriptions of both items accordingly. It would be great if you could review my edits to be sure I got them right.

sea lion (Q3887135)/sea lion (Q20722165)

Items involved: Q3887135Talk, Q20722165Talk Status:    resolved

These are both "sea lion" or in French " Lion de mer". The only page linking to one of them is a French Wikipedia article and it is now a redirect to the other. There is a different from (P1889) on one of the items. Can I merge them? See also Talk:Q20722165. symmedian (Q556309)/Lemoine point (Q940537)

Items involved: Q556309Talk, Q940537Talk Status:    resolved

The Lemoine point (Q940537) is the intersection of the three symmedian (Q556309) of a triangle. Lemoine point refers to a point and symmedians refer to lines. In Simplified Chinese, 类似中 means the point named Lemoine point (Q940537) and 类似中线 means the line named symmedian (Q556309). However, 类似中线 is linked to Lemoine point (Q940537), which is a mistake. --Gehongyan1996 (talk) 11:44, 3 January 2018 (UTC)

It also contains a paragraph about the point. But ok, I've moved to the second item. --Infovarius (talk) 19:16, 7 February 2018 (UTC)

Both are the same person. --Estevoaei (talk) 14:08, 7 January 2018 (UTC)

@Estevoaei: I'm confused with place of birth (P19) values, one says Guimarães (Q170903) (in Portugal (Q45)), another one says Pontedeume (Q765283) (in Spain (Q29)), if one is incorrect (i.e. you have materials to indicate the actual P19 value of this person), then I can merge both with removing the invalid one, if not, then both are kindly different people with purely same names. --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 11:59, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
Hi, @Liuxinyu970226:! The right place is Guimarães, as it appears in spanish and portuguese Wikipedias. I don't understand russian, I don't know why Pontedeume appears in russian Wikipedia as birth place (it's death place). But there's not doubt about it's the same person. In the portuguese article's template appears Bermudo Peres de Trava as her husband, the same father, the same date of death...
Pontedeume is invalid as birth place. Thank you very much!! --Estevoaei (talk) 18:51, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Hi!I have added references for Urraca Henriques, Infanta of Portugal (Q10388281) in place of birth (P19), the data appeared in World Biographical Information System Online (Q2593612) and Archivo Biográfico de España, Portugal e Iberoamérica (Q51452876), and both sources state that Guimarães (Q170903) is the place of birth. I hope this helps. Thank you!--Maria zaos (talk) 18:18, 7 April 2018 (UTC) @Liuxinyu970226: Maria zaos (talk) 16:04, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

characters of Half-Life (Q10656484)/characters of Half-Life (Q29087)

Items involved: Q10656484Talk, Q29087Talk Status:    resolved

Q1 covers the characters and other living beings in the game series Half-Life. Q2 covers only the characters. Q1 only contains the Swedish article. Q2 doesn't contain a Swedish version. It is highly unlikely that any Wikipedia will have both articles, one for characters, one for characters and creatures. It is possible though that the Q2 articles get expanded or are already expanded, but kept the article name. I request to merge them. --Anton Sachs (talk) 22:24, 26 January 2018 (UTC)

Solus (Q7558961)/Solus (Q22013701)

Items involved: Q7558961Talk, Q22013701Talk Status:    resolved

These pages refer to a same OS, SolusOS is the old name. For example the page of es.wikipedia is "SolusOS" but is about Solus. The en.wikipedia is in both SolusOS and Solus wikidata. I can't do an automatic merge because in the no.wikipedia there are page for Solus and SolusOS and both are in the wikidata corresponding.  – The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tearow (talk • contribs) at 25. 1. 2018, 16:50‎ (UTC).

w:no:Solus Operating System: Den er etterfølgeren til SolusOS. So not the same thing. Matěj Suchánek (talk) 08:45, 27 January 2018 (UTC)
I think SolusOS deserve to be quote in the Solus Operating System wiki but it's true to say it's not exactly the same thing but Solus is the OS following SolusOS by the same developer but just without the Debian-based things. The work in wikidata will be facilitate because there are only the no wiki who do the differance between these two distro's thers just don't talk about SolusOS or quote this in "history" or other section. It's just my point of view but perhaps we need to keep these two pages after all. Tearow (talk) 18:56, 31 January 2018 (UTC)
@Ranværing: Both nowiki articles are created by you, so how are both different in your opinion? --Liuxinyu970226 (talk) 14:44, 2 February 2018 (UTC)
