Re:MET removal on Countess Anna Potocka[edit]

The painting Countess Anna Potocka (Q105632611) is not part of MET's collection, but is in a private collection. It was loaned to the MET by the owner for the exhibition Vigée Le Brun: Woman Artist in Revolutionary France, and it received at this time a temporary accession number. BeatrixBelibaste (talk) 21:40, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@BeatrixBelibaste: you seem to confuse collection (P195) with inventory number (P217). The fact that something is a loan doesn't mean it isn't in some collection, see The Night Watch (Q219831) as an example. Please stop with removing valid statements. See Wikidata:WikiProject Visual arts/Item structure and Wikidata:WikiProject sum of all paintings/Provenance. Multichill (talk) 22:33, 8 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Family / Ancestor Tool not working any more[edit]

Hi Maarten, I hope you are doing well! I just hit this error: https://family.toolforge.org/ancestors.php?q=Q468031&lang=en

It seems that the Ancestor tool (although still listed in the Wikidata menu) was shut down a few days ago: https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/News/Toolforge_Grid_Engine_deprecation#Timeline

Are there any plans to migrate it to a new environment?

@Beat Estermann: not sure why it wasn't just pushed to another backend. Oh well, works again, see https://family.toolforge.org/ancestors.php?q=Q154952 . Multichill (talk) 17:14, 17 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perfect. Thank you! --Beat Estermann (talk) 14:37, 18 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in the WQT UI requirements elicitation online workshop[edit]

Dear Multichill,

I hope you are doing well,

We are a group of researchers from King’s College London working on developing WQT (Wikidata Quality Toolkit), which will support a diverse set of editors in curating and validating Wikidata content.

We are inviting you to participate in an online workshop aimed at understanding the requirements for designing effective and easy-to-use user interfaces (UI) for three tools within WQT that can support the daily activities of Wikidata editors: recommending items to edit based on their personal preferences, finding items that need better references, and generating entity schemas automatically for better item quality.

The main activity during this workshop will be UI mockup sketching. To facilitate this, we encourage you to attend the workshop using a tablet or laptop with PowerPoint installed or any other drawing tools you prefer. This will allow for a more interactive and productive session as we delve into the UI mockup sketching activities.

Participation is completely voluntary. You should only take part if you want to and choosing not to take part will not disadvantage you in any way. However, your cooperation will be valuable for the WQT design. Please note that all data and responses collected during the workshop will be used solely for the purpose of improving the WQT and understanding editor requirements. We will analyze the results in an anonymized form, ensuring your privacy is protected. Personal information will be kept confidential and will be deleted once it has served its purpose in this research.

The online workshop, which will be held on April 5th, should take no more than 3 hours.

If you agree to participate in this workshop, please either contact me at kholoud.alghamdi@kcl.ac.uk or use this form to register your interest https://forms.office.com/e/9mrE8rXZVg Then, I will contact you with all the instructions for the workshop.

For more information about my project, please read this page: https://king-s-knowledge-graph-lab.github.io/WikidataQualityToolkit/

If you have further questions or require more information, don't hesitate to contact me at the email address mentioned above.

Thank you for considering taking part in this project.

Grazie Sailko (talk) 19:48, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Multichill, if that painting image is placed in that position on Wikidata, it will appear among tens of thousands of images on the theme of "Madonna and Child" in the "Other images" section. I believe it's misleading for anyone browsing through any artwork photo of Madonna to always encounter this comparison (which is not particularly significant, and shows an image that, although of quality, exhibits obvious reflection defects). Therefore, some time ago, I thought it was more appropriate for no photo to be linked to that page. Maybe you know another method to prevent it from appearing so extensively, giving rise to an obvious (albeit perhaps unintentional) spam? Thanks."--Sailko (talk) 19:49, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sailko: Ha, "don't mess up the data to fix you infobox" (free after Tagging for the renderer).
I see this happening at File:Raffaello, madonna solly, 1502 ca.JPG. Oops, looks like we went a bit too far with the other versions logic. @Jarekt: can you fix that? Multichill (talk) 20:38, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Multichill, Sailko: am a bit confused. based on (P144) = Madonna and Child (Q9309699) in Solly Madonna (Q602813) makes no sense to me, as Q9309699 is an artistic theme, and not any specific work of art. So in this case I would just fix the strange property. But I also agree that here other versions logic went a bit too far, so if a painting is based in a poem and we have some image in the poem item, it would not make sense to display it. So maybe I should only limit the images to works of art. Or I can only shows if items have the same instance of (P31). Any ideas or opinions? --Jarekt (talk) 02:50, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Jarekt, Multichill: I would not display image about the theme at all. A link to wikidata property is enough for me. --Sailko (talk) 08:19, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
